THE BLOG – A rambling journey. Evening Glow 18 x 24. Greenville, South Carolina is a nice town with an incredible downtown area that has been rebuilt with a fantastic park built around a beautiful waterfall. Yeah Greenville. I was impressed. Maggie Valley is a beautiful place. Enough said. I feel like I’m bragging. When driving down a very steep road from the top of a mountain it is wise to use the lower gears of your car to slow your descent rather than you brakes. May 26, 2014 at 10:26 pm. Enter your c...

THE BLOG – A rambling journey. 8220;Do, or do not. There is no try”. Wise words from Master Yoda. “Do, or do not. There is no try.” Does that apply to painting? Does that apply to creativity? Make plans and goals. Do, or do not. There is no try. Thank you Master Yoda. Thanks for looking (and listening). Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. THE BLOG – A rambling journey. Here’s a simple painting to help calm a busy life. I know I did it to myself. But, busy isn’t necessarily bad. So here are the good points of four art festivals and one week-long paint out and one three-day paint out in two months. My paintings got to see people. I received significant affirmation that I’m doing something right. I got to meet some really friendly people. A bunch of my paintings have found a new home. I feel blessed to be able to do what I do. I also did sho...

About Me | Steve Andrews Art
https://steveandrewsart.wordpress.com/about
THE BLOG – A rambling journey. I am Steve Andrews. I live in Tallahassee, Florida. I’m a husband, a father, a father-in-law, a grandfather (yikes! A painter, an attorney, a mountain bike racer, a sailor and a general doer of whatever grabs my attention at the time. This blog is mostly about the painter part. I’ve painted professionally (meaning people actually pay me good money to enjoy something that I created with a lot of enjoyment myself) for almost twenty years. Here’s a link. Turning Point 16 x 20.

Eugenie Torgerson: A Visual Life with Words: December 2012
http://eugenietorgerson.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Eugenie Torgerson: A Visual Life with Words. Friday, December 14, 2012. When I am not in the studio, I work for a really big retail store. A manly-sized bag of beef jerky. I am endlessly intrigued by this unchoosing process. As shoppers, we have a sense that there must be cameras or people watching us and that unloading the item that has lost its allure will probably be observed. Right? 1) Putting this thing here is not really not too far from where I got it. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Eugenie Torgerson: A Visual Life with Words: February 2013
http://eugenietorgerson.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
Eugenie Torgerson: A Visual Life with Words. Tuesday, February 19, 2013. In my experience, making a book is a slow and oddly tense undertaking. For my current project based on the first chapter of Margaret Fuller's Summer on the Lakes in 1843. The initial challenge was accurately transcribing the original text, including checking on antique spellings such as visiters. Gluing up the sewn book block brings stability and a growing sense of bookiness to the whole thing. As of this morning, the body is se...

Eugenie Torgerson: A Visual Life with Words: Heightened Sensibility
http://eugenietorgerson.blogspot.com/2013/02/heightened-sensibility.html
Eugenie Torgerson: A Visual Life with Words. Thursday, February 14, 2013. For a few years I have been circling gingerly around a book project suggested by Priscilla Juvelis, the astute owner of Priscilla Juvelis Rare Books. In Kennebunkport. She. Thought that the writings of Margaret Fuller -. Her book Summer on the Lakes in 1843. So now I have gathered my own easily excited nerves and have embarked on a book of only one chapter - Niagara, June 10, 1843. Her words are illustrated and, I hope, illuminated...

Eugenie Torgerson: A Visual Life with Words: November 2010

Eugenie Torgerson: A Visual Life with Words. Tuesday, November 2, 2010. The Old Tavern Inn, once a stagecoach stop, has cultural status as a popular burger joint and a watering hole for people who drive pick-up trucks. Apparently there were cowboys chowing down today after exercising their right to vote, just up the road. We live in the past and the present, still knee deep in autumn leaves.
