Accounting standards - FAS157, IAS39 - require firms to price credit risk into new transactions and to mark to market both derivative Counterparty risk (CVA) and their own non-performance risk (DVA). Regulators are proposing banks hold additional capital against this mtm risk (CVA VaR).
