Hillseekers: June 2009

Sunday, June 7, 2009. Mountain Marathoning in Lichtenstein. June 6, 2009 - Lichtenstein. 1800M elevation gain and 42KM: Trail Running. We weren't so lucky with the weather gods this year as the race turned into a real soak-fest! The rain never seemed to stop and it got colder as we climbed and the day progressed. I feel for the people who didn't bring a shell or hat. Even with my shell and gloves on, I was soaked and shivering by the time I crossed the finish. Toward the top of the Malbun ski lifts).

Hillseekers: February 2008

Tuesday, February 12, 2008. Good as new, well almost. Home from the hospital now! And already missing the way the nurses instantaneously responded to my every need. I'm going to have to see if I can install one of those buttons by my chair here at home to buzz Jeff whenever I need anything. (! Esther lived nearby with her family and their 22 cows. Whenever her family came in to visit her, there was a definite dairy smell that filled the room - I'm not kidding! So now that I can get around, I have no excu...

Monday, May 5, 2008. Crazy Americans at Tour de Romandie. The Tour de Romandie. Pro cycling race just happened to be held at the same time and in the same area as our Alphorn lessons, in the french area of Switzerland. With two days of lessons fresh under our belts, and our newly-purchased Alphorn itching to be played, we woke up Saturday morning ready to do a different kind of "cheering" for the pro cyclists. The location of one of the King of the Mountains points banners. While we waited for the pros t...

Hillseekers: April 2008
http://hillseekers.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
Monday, April 28, 2008. Ever since we moved here to Switzerland last August, there has been a noticeable pattern in the weather - It seems to rain a LOT, but mostly during the weekdays, with the clouds leaving by Friday and Mother Nature rewarding us for putting up with all the weekday sogginess with a beautiful sunny weekend. During the week it seems like the rain will never end, but the weekend payoff is worth it! It cleared up for him by the weekend then too, thankfully! Many times we are surprised by...

Tuesday, June 17, 2008. The Merry Month of May. It seems I am often running about a month behind on blogs lately! May was a great month, jam-packed full of activities. and even some sunshine :) This explains why I wasn't at the computer blogging.but now it's raining again, so better late than never, right? The month kicked off with our Alphorn lessons, as Jeff described in the post " Bringing it all together. Crazy Americans at Tour de Romandie. I had to take a break between bike rides to take our car in...

Thursday, July 17, 2008. June - a month full of adventures. To quickly round out the month of May. After Jo's visit, I made a visit to the U.S. to see some family and friends (and our dog Brandy. Yes, I am taking the easy way out for this! She just writes so much better than I). More pictures from this visit can be seen by clicking here. Then came June - The month of outdoor adventures. With a few samples here.). It started with some biking at a couple local mountain passes: Pragel. The next day we did a...

Monday, September 14, 2009. The Mind Trip: UTMB Race Report Part 3. Blurry shot of Kate helping me out of Champex - Kate says it's blurry because we're running so fast! Which not surprisingly was the only hydration product I could tolerate (and enjoy) through Marathon des Sables as well. Course map, the Champex to Chamonix section is at the top. I leap off the trail before careening into this frightening beast that has emerged from the darkness just to absolutely horrify exhausted runners. We exchang...
