Thursday, July 06, 2006. As you can tell, I am very hungry. I had two friends in town from New Zealand - Troy and Deidre, and they came along with me to church. After church service, we always have a meal. My pastor (and friend) Corey, asked me to take pictures of folks after the service. My translation: "Have NZ friends take a picture of you eating dinner, and let Corey find it on his camera later on! Well, Corey did find the picture, and he sent it to me today. Tuesday, January 31, 2006. I’ve recently been using this goody while selecting cabinetry, flooring, windows, and other odds-and-ends for a house in Chattanooga that’s being fixed up to rent out. The tape measure is bright orange, which is probably the reason it was placed on the discount table at ACE Hardware. Sometimes I wear it on my belt, which makes me a real carpenter, or something, huh? I can measure anything! With shoes on, I’m a whopping 5’11 , I discovered the other day while measuring myself.

Monday, September 25, 2006. A passage that keeps catching me. You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? Do not even pagans do that? It frustrates me, ...

Saturday, February 25, 2006. How would you like to live here? This is the Manor House of English L'Abri. In Greatham (pronounced Grettam). It is amazing! I attended L'Abri in England last summer for a short while, just to get a better understanding of how this all works. For anyone interested in taking some time out in an amazing study environment (location and people/tutors), I would recommend any of the L'Abri fellowships. This post, however, is just to revel in the beautiful area! I was in the next pl...

Thursday, March 30, 2006. The Way I See It #76. I'm embarrassed to say that I found this inspiring, but it is true! I was drinking my grande Sumatra when I looked down, and to my surprise, there was a really interesting quote on the side of my Starbucks coffee cup:. I really enjoyed thinking about this today. the concept has been running through my mind for the past month, or so. It was neat to find it so concisely written on the side of a coffee cup. See, Starbucks isn't all evil afterall! Right now, th...

Saturday, December 30, 2006. Life sure has been busy the past couple of months. far too busy to post on here, but I do really enjoy taking a few precious minutes to write a little and share thoughts and happenings in my life. A few weeks ago, my grandmother passed away at the age of 80. It really was a sad time. I spent a good deal of time sorting through photos to make things for her memorial service: a photo presentation on screen, a photo handout with a poem, and an order of service. Breaking silence ...

Sunday, June 18, 2006. In Starbucks is great wisdom and great. I have a 6:30 am meeting on Thursday mornings. You can imagine the copious amounts of coffee that I drink before that meeting. especially this past week, when I got to bed at 2:30 am the night before. Whoops! On my Starbucks cup, per usual, there was another "The Way I See it" posted. I have enjoyed many quotes in the past, per previous post. This time, I was a bit disturbed.and I quote,. The Way I See it #100. Wednesday, June 07, 2006. One o...

Tuesday, November 21, 2006. The master of silence. Yep, I've got it down alright! Sorry about the crickets chirping on my blog. I've been a bit scattered recently. Upon returning from Europe, I had three weeks of allergies, sinus infection, and cold/flu symptoms. I think that I have finally overcome all the sickness, but I'm still just dragging and tired most days. ugh! Enjoy your tryptophan comas this Thursday! Posted by em at 11/21/2006 10:43:00 PM. Saturday, August 26, 2006. Last year, my fascination with restoring old houses began. My mom and I were trying to find a way to build her a house in preparation for retirement, and all the house building options seemed far too expensive for a bland, cookie-cutter, utilitarian-with-no-thought-to-craftsmanship, and poorly-made house. Thus began our search for an older house that we could buy, move to her land, and refurbish. I found the oldest, most run-down crack house in the city. and I bought it! Has re...
