The Avison Family: February 2015

Monday, February 9, 2015. Grain Free Breakfast Ideas. If you read my earlier post, you know that we are eating gluten free around our home these days. I'm trying really hard though, to not just replace our regular food items with gluten free items, but to actually eat real, clean food. I'm not perfect (right now Finn is eating a deli ham sandwich on gluten free bread) but I'm really making an effort towards eating whole food. Fluffy Paleo Pancakes (from "The Paleo Kid" cookbook). 1 apple, peeled and cored.

The Avison Family: January 2015
http://janaandjj.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 18, 2015. For years, I had read about how a gluten free, dye free, low sugar diet can do wonders for kids with ADHD or on the Autism Spectrum. I don't think Finn has any of these disorders, but I figured if it helps a lot with those, it might make a difference for Finn too. At first nothing. I told everyone that I didn't think it was making a difference because we were seeing no change at all with adding gluten back in. Then bam! And just a side note and an example of why I love Finn's pr...

The Avison Family: Murder by Baby
http://janaandjj.blogspot.com/2014/10/murder-by-baby.html
Wednesday, October 8, 2014. We've made the decision to bed share with Remy until she's ready to move to a regular bed. There are good nights and not so good nights, but overall I'm really glad we decided to keep her with us. Recently we decided that it was important for Remy to take the next step towards sleep independence. For her whole life I've either nursed her down or walked her down in the Ergo. About a month ago we decided to just lay with her until she falls asleep. 3 Scalping with her bare hands.

Friday, May 30, 2014. Sisterhood of the Traveling Ergo. Ive been told that when people share a mode of unique transportation (a Harley or VW bus) they often have a way of acknowledging each other, like a hand signal or particular nod of the head. My unique mode of transportation for close to a year has been my baby in her Ergo. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Ages 5 and 2. Living Well Spending Less™. 5 Ways to Simplify Your School Routine. The Avison Family: October 2013
http://janaandjj.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Thursday, October 17, 2013. The weather has been amazing this week, so since Finn didn't have school yesterday we decided to use our zoo membership. Who knows how many chances we'll have to use it once winter fully hits (besides Zoo Lights, of course). One story: I hate enclosed bird areas, but Finn talked me into taking him in to the bird area in Africa. I immediately started gagging cause it's so warm and stinky in there. Plus, I just really didn't want to get pooped on. Finn? Tuesday, October 15, 2013.

The Avison Family: Our "Best Ever" Pancakes
http://janaandjj.blogspot.com/2014/11/our-ever-pancakes.html
Wednesday, November 5, 2014. Our Best Ever Pancakes. About four of five months ago, Finn decided that the only thing he wanted for breakfast was pancakes. Really. We have pancakes for breakfast at least five mornings a week. I've been trying to perfect a recipe that's a little healthier than a typical white flour pancake. And ta-da! Today was the day. I freeze the leftovers in baggies of six; four for Finn and two for Remy. Finn's Best Ever Pancakes:. 2 eggs, separated. 6 TB butter, melted. Ages 5 and 2.

The Avison Family: November 2013
http://janaandjj.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, November 12, 2013. It's always a hard transition, but it looks like we are officially swaddle free. My sister in law, whose first baby is about six week younger than Remy, asked how we knew it was time. For me, it feels like a safety issue at a certain point. We bed share, so now that Remy has some good movement skills, I want her to have access to her arms if she ends up face down or under a blanket. Monday, November 11, 2013. Friday, November 1, 2013.
