Once upon a time…. February 5, 2011 · 11:02 pm. A life well lived. Sometimes I feel like I’ve missed the boat. When did I become a stereotype? When did I become that character in the novel that you all but scream at to quit pursuing accomplishments and start pursuing relationships before you throw the book at the wall? When did I become a workaholic? Is that really what I am? But I hate work! Work a hol ic. ɪk/ [wurk-uh-haw-lik, -hol-ik]. Expense of other pursuits. When did that happen? A life well lived.

Changing the way I view life. Thursday, February 3, 2011. Dr Angel Hernandez with Corban. Two days after brain surgery. These photos are from 2005 when Corban was 6 years old. It was his second brain surgery at Cook Children's Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. The man shown is Dr. Angel Hernandez, a pediatric neurologist who directs Corban's neuroscience care still today. The surgeries were performed by neurosurgeons Dr David Donahue and Dr Johnnie Honeycutt. Have a laugh with Corban. Follow me on Twitter.

The Lens Crafter: Will Corb run...

Changing the way I view life. Wednesday, June 17, 2009. For the past few years now I have been watching my son's progress towards normality. I've come to realize that one of us has changed. Either he has, or I have, or both of us have, and it's probably been the latter. Taking great strides (tight muscled gait). He runs, not away from something but to something? Could it be the angels given charge over Corb are also falling and laughing. Is that normal? If that is normal, give me all of that you have left.

The Lens Crafter: September 2008

Changing the way I view life. Tuesday, September 30, 2008. Why didn’t I grab a Mark’s-a-lot and write a message of hope for the next person to find the balloon to read? I wondered. But I have come to realize that sometimes not all messages are written out in succinct form nor appear in a form that I am expecting. Why did I put the knife in my pocket that morning? Would there be some boxes to open at church…no I don’t think so. Was the knife a tool waiting to be used at just the right time? Links to this ...

The Lens Crafter: October 2012
http://abovethetimberline.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
Changing the way I view life. Tuesday, October 9, 2012. I help him step out of the truck, curbside at the front door of his middle school building, among the crowd of students waiting for the doors to open. The usual greeting of the teacher or classroom aide who I hand him off to is not yet present. It’s the day after a holiday and we have arrived earlier than usual. I don’t wait. As my 14 year old steps onto the sidewalk he turns and I help him put on his backpack. He points toward the door. Tonight Tob...

Once upon a time…. Just for the illusion of perfection. A life well lived →. January 7, 2011 · 10:19 am. That’s all I can come up with. My life is so full right now I don’t even know where to start! Full is a good word. Full of what? I’m so glad you asked 🙂. My afternoons are full of teenagers! Let me just offer a word of advice to all you introverts out there in cyberspace- if you need alone time to function, DO NOT become a teacher! Why do we have to work? Can I plug in my phone? Can I call my mom?
