meadowcopse: May 2015
http://meadowcopse.blogspot.com/2015/05/may-2015.html
A small patch of traditional meadow on the River Dee flood plain south of Chester. Tuesday, 5 May 2015. A blustery start to the day and woken up by the rain. A couple of hours in the orchard checking the younger fruit trees aren't flappkng about too much. Most of the blossom is still on fortunately. Mixing in some course sand and topsoil, ready for the next couple of tonnes of old stable manure to dress around each of the fruit trees. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.
meadowcopse: July 2014
http://meadowcopse.blogspot.com/2014/07/july-2014.html
A small patch of traditional meadow on the River Dee flood plain south of Chester. Friday, 4 July 2014. Some long spells of sunshine throughout June, causing a little concern for watering of the less established fruit trees in the orchard. Just enough rain for new growth to flourish quite prolifically (as well as the grass coming on well, but layering slightly in breezes and odd spells of dampness). For the first time some (fortunately minor) rabbit damage around the graft line of a couple of trees.
meadowcopse: May Eve
http://meadowcopse.blogspot.com/2014/05/may-eve.html
A small patch of traditional meadow on the River Dee flood plain south of Chester. Wednesday, 30 April 2014. As night falls before the 1st of May tomorrow, sounds of youth frollicking in the enclosure of the ruined castle across the river, on a relatively mild night. Not sure a Maypole would be a useful addition to the meadow and orchard? However, heavy rain and maybe frost is expected over the next couple of days and nights. Early evening view from the south west corner of the orchard:. The long term pl...
meadowcopse: February: A quieter than anticipated few weeks

A small patch of traditional meadow on the River Dee flood plain south of Chester. Monday, 18 February 2013. February: A quieter than anticipated few weeks. Another seasonal minor inundation from the nearby River Dee across the meadow / orchard at the weekend. Although the level wasn't too extreme. Unfortunately a dead brown badger on the main road near by. Lots of water-fowl on the surrounding flood-plain fields. Quite looking forward to getting a few native seeds in the patched up bits of hedge, includ...
meadowcopse: 3 Years
http://meadowcopse.blogspot.com/2013/06/3-years.html
A small patch of traditional meadow on the River Dee flood plain south of Chester. Thursday, 13 June 2013. I've had the field three years now (from June 2010). I'm quite pleased that I found a local plot of land to plant the collection of fruit trees as a traditional orchard. Enough time has passed to get a feel for the cycle of nature, minor mistakes erased and the introduced trees established without compromising the grassland and wildlife. 15 June 2013 at 06:34. Remote island. - Daniels daily ramblings. Feb 25th, 2011 08:53 pm. Cauda Pavonis - 9 to 5 freak show. Back at work - fortunately my train connection on Tuesday night was only about an hour late, compared to the 3 hour delays suffered by those on the East Coast line. Rubbish sleep before a 5am rise for 6am helicopter check-in. 9 hours continuous sleep though for the first night after work - best for months. A shame though, as I missed the end of The History of Ancient Britain on TV. Bizarrely, Amazon....

Not going far - Daniels daily ramblings. Dec 1st, 2010 09:15 am. 5700 n 2.00 e. Day 15 out of 14 in the off-shore household. The sound of a helicopter and the smell of kerosine yesterday, but that was a catch-up flight after nothing for 6 days. Today would have been crew-change back to Aberdeen, but at least an extra night on a remote island tonight due to snow and freezing temperatures and backlogs (-9 deg.C wind chill last night outside). 2010-12-01 09:50 am (UTC). Yes, couldn't agree more!

Social media. - Daniels daily ramblings. Sep 26th, 2014 05:25 pm. In the sudden flurry of interest in Ello, the concern over Facebook name policies and the absence of anything particularly stunning from G I'm a little surprised that Livejournal hasn't enjoyed a bit of a more prominent resurgence? I'm offtothe winter Whitby Goth Weekend, after nearly a year of uncertainty for planning social engagements.

Created on 29 July 2001 (#278177). Last updated on 26 September 2014. I'm Daniel and live in either Chester, England or on a remote island. (A north sea gas platform 150 miles east of Aberdeen). Leisure is mainly gardening, walking and horse-riding, amateur arboriculture, messing around with odd and old engineering artefacts and attending various Goth nights in Manchester, Sheffield, Nottingham, Leeds or even Slimelight down in London. I relax by reading about weird things. I am particularly interested i...

Home and away - Daniels daily ramblings. Dec 6th, 2010 01:50 pm. Damh the Bard - Oak, Broom, And Meadowsweet. After an epic journey back to the north-west of England from 150 miles east of Aberdeen after an extra few snowy days (unplanned) offshore, I am now in Bristol (Via Liverpool for The Mediaeval Baebes concert and briefly at home in Chester). Both The Watershed and Arnolfini are doing mulled cider, most appreciated in this weather. 2010-12-06 01:59 pm (UTC). 2010-12-06 02:08 pm (UTC).

The end of the first weekend back at work (night shifts) after a four week break that went too quickly. During my spell off, one full day at home after the last spell at work, before heading into The Midlands and into a long weekend in Bristol. A small patch of traditional meadow on the River Dee flood plain south of Chester. Tuesday, 29 September 2015. A productive final weekend to September. A fine sunny day at the Autumn Malvern Show and some good conversations with fruit growers, interest groups and equipment suppliers, as well as some fine produce on display. A couple of relaxed stop-offs on the journey northwards and home. College at Reaseheath has started for year 2 of the conservation and countryside course I'm doing. My orchard has had...
