On my first day off this week, although I had lots of outstanding things I needed to catch up on, we decided to go for a walk first, to blow the cobwebs away, so we headed over to Decoy park, where the woods hunched greyly over the wind ruffled water, and the birds were pleased to see us. May day welcomed the end of the harsh winter days, and welcomed the beginning of Summer. Tuesday, 13 January 2015. A Stormy drive on the Moor. The village had that lovely early morning feel about it, the green was bathed in sunshine, the trees beautiful and sleek with rain casting long shadows over the grass. Saturday, 21 August 2010. A damp morning in Totnes. Today we woke to grey skies and mizzle again, but having had to stay in yesterday, we were determined to get out and about, so drove over to Totnes. First port of call as always Anne of Cleves tea rooms, and what delights in the window, lovely strawberry topped buns, but we were very restrained and had our usual coffee and scones. We were lucky enough to find the market on in the square, albeit just setting up, probably delayed because of the rain.

Tuesday, 7 October 2014. A walk round Powderham. We had a nice country walk last week, we started at Powderham castle where we normally stop for coffee on our way elsewhere. Powderham castle is open to the public, and has various events in the grounds over the year. Also in the hedging were the tiny cream flowers of traveller`s joy and sprays of rosy red hips. Sunday, 21 March 2010. A Spring walk at Berry Pomeroy. Much refreshed, we donned walking boots, as it was very muddy underfoot, having had two days of heavy rain and walked round to the castle which looked mysterious and brooding in the early morning light, it was lovely and peaceful, nobody about, just the sound of the Jackdaws calling as they flapped around the ramparts looking for places to nest. Tuesday, 30 June 2009. A day in Dawlish,. The beach is also backed by these soaring redstone cliffs, topped with shrubs and trees. Some had these wonderful patterns on which the gulls were using as nest sites. We could hear the babies whistling and fluting above our heads. Friday, 29 May 2009. A woodland walk and a Seagull suprise. My first day off today, but it was always going to be a busy one, as we`ve just started a holiday, and are going back to see my Mother in East Anglia tomorrow. But I didnt want it to be all rushing around, cleaning, shopping and packing, so we got up early and drove over to Decoy park, before too many children invaded the woods. It was a lovely sunny morning, with blue sky, and beside the lake was a welcoming party with rather large splendid feet.
