Canada Trip Jul/Aug 06. Tuesday, August 08, 2006. Good couple of days in Kentucky. Monday morning our niece Michelle took us on a short hike to some falls. However there was no water coming over the falls, but it was a beautiful walk through the Kentucky forest. After lunch Glennis and Michelle took us on a tour of some of the shops around town. There are some absolutely beautiful handcrafts available: weaving, pottery, painting, glass, sculpture, furniture, woodturning, you name it they have it here.

Canada Trip Jul/Aug 06. Friday, July 21, 2006. Friday - Ottawa City. On Friday Bron and Rob went into the central city and wandered around looking at the beautiful old government buildings, shopping and looking at the markets. We tried a Beaver Tail, which is like a flat donut covered in cinnamon sugar. Very yummy. Tomorrow we head off to Little Cedar Lake for a week, so we won't have Internet access. Canada Trip Jul/Aug 06. Sunday, July 30, 2006. We went with Earl on a Sunday afternoon bike ride around some of the bush parks that Ottawa is blessed with. There are some fantastic trails for biking and walking in some of the suburbs not far from Earl and Mandy's house. We spent a good couple of hours cycling around. Canada Trip Jul/Aug 06. Tuesday, August 01, 2006. Cycling Trip to the City. Today Earl and Robin cycled from Earl and Mandy's place into the centre of Ottawa City. The cycle tracks run virtually all the way, most of it next to the Ottawa River. Bron and Jordyn came part of the way. At one point they have set up some stone sculptures on the shoreline. The government buildings in Ottawa (which is the capital of Canada) are magnificent sitting up on a bluff overlooking the river. We must have been mad!

Canada Trip Jul/Aug 06. Friday, July 21, 2006. Upper Canada Pioneer Village. The flour mill is run by an old woodfired steam engine. They bake and sell their own bread using the wholegrain flour from the mill. Very nice. The timber mill and wollen mill are run by water power. We had a great day looking around all the exhibits and seeing how they lived and worked in the old days. Timber Mill in Action. Sophie Watching Basket Weaving. Jordy in Period Costume. Sunday, April 24, 2005. Dhaka Hash House Harriers. Water Buffalo and Cart. Bringing in the Rice. Working With the Rice. The rice is being threshed by hand by the group on the left. The rice complete with husks is then spread out to dry on the concrete pad. Once dry the rice is picked up in baskets and tipped out again. The breeze blows the husks away from the rice grains. Thursday, August 11, 2005. Bashundhara City Shopping Complex - Dhaka. One of the newest shopping complexes in Dhaka is called Bashundhara City. It has 13 floors and has about 2000 or more shops in it. The shops are mostly small boutique types and many of them sell the same sort of thing. One of the shops is actually called Robin's Heaven!
