The meandering thoughts and observations of a Technology Engineer. It is also the case that there are people who are much more privileged than I am, but does that mean I have no care or should disregard those that have less than me? Not less stuff or money, but less access to a life where they have opportunity. Where they could make a choice about what they want to do, who they want to do it with and where they want to do it? Will be able to figure out what kind of person you will marry? I would bet, tha...

The meandering thoughts and observations of a Technology Engineer. So, this afternoon while sitting down with my dad for lunch we usually try to solve all the worlds problems. We spend our time talking about politics, religion, economics, business and many other things. In an effort to solve the worlds problems we often end up in the same loops, but something new came up this week and it got me to thinking. According to the CDC ( http:/ www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/databriefs/db82.pdf. There is a lot of people ...

Errata Security: I conceal my identity the same way Aaron was indicted for
http://blog.erratasec.com/2013/01/i-conceal-my-identity-same-way-aaron.html
Wednesday, January 16, 2013. I conceal my identity the same way Aaron was indicted for. According to his indictment. Aaron Swartz was charged with wirefraud for concealing/changing his "true identity". It sent chills down my back, because I do everything on that list (and more). To understand what I do, look at the screenshot below, and how evidence of my misbehavior shows up in my home router DHCP table:. And my name isn't "Martin". That's a name I made up. Remember the Stratfor hack from last year?

Dharma Bum | Adventures in Daily Life
Adventures in Daily Life. Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. Well, not planes. But practically every other mode of travel between here in San Francisco. We rode our bikes from our house to the Amtrak. Train station in Davis. We then took the Amtrak train to Richmond California, where we changed platforms to BART. We then took BART into San Francisco, and exited BART at the Powell Street station. From Powell, we took the Powell and Hyde Street cable car. In Fisherman’s Wharf. And returned by an Uber car.

Tuesday, February 14, 2012. I think the idea of a bucket list is charming, thought provoking, and adventurous. Here is the beginning of mine (drafted at work; subject to change. One of my friends said "I write my goals in pencil, so that God take me down a different path if He wants to." I have adopted that.). Thank you to Prism for the idea! 1 Serve a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. 2 Go to Italy (March-May '08). 3 Take ballroom dance classes. 7 Become a doula.

Meandering Teacher | Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.
Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire. Cruisin’ Halong the bay. July 6, 2016. July 6, 2016. After getting back to Hanoi from Sa Pa, my next stop was to figure out how to get to Halong Bay. Luckily, my hostel was pretty helpful in arranging that — and would cut me a deal if I would agree to room with a random stranger! Luckily, my new forced-friend, Gabriel from France ended up being a great travel partner and real-life friend. The next day we headed our to Cat Ba Island, supp...

Meandering the Blue Highways
Meandering the Blue Highways. Friday, October 21, 2016. Southwest, Here We Come. Natural Bridge, Bryce Canyon National Park. First stop: Zion National Park, where we thought we would spend a day or two. Upon entering the park and seeing the full parking lots, lines at the bus stops, and full campsites, we quickly reevaluated our decision. Cedar Breaks National Monument. Brrrr! On our spring trip, the aspen were just leafing out; now they were changing colors. Slowly moving through hundreds of these white...

June 8, 2013. Yesterday was Jim’s and my 16th anniversary and it was a fabulous day, made more so by its contrast to one year ago. Last year. On June 7th, Jim was in all-day end-of-year meetings and I was up to my eyebrows in packing. Our closing on our Virginia house was just 6 days away and we weren’t even close to being packed up. It didn’t disappoint. We are all still in love with it. All in all a perfect celebration of 16 years of marriage. Sunday night, we’re going out just the two of us ...Everyon...

Living on a lake and thinking like Thoreau. Monday, April 21, 2008. Bringing the new website online has kept me busy. I probably have time to post in both places but my incurable case of procrastination hasn't allowed that. I will do a little cut and paste here . just to keep WaldenPond active. I spent the weekend honing my action photography skills. The Llano Crawfish Festival is a local event. One of the highlights is a. Least I could settle for was a position by the fence. When I returned to my parked...
