Hiving the bees. | Adventures in Beekeeping
https://mechambees.wordpress.com/2008/06/07/hiving-the-bees
Just another WordPress.com weblog. We picked-up our two hive starters on Saturday, April 19, 2008 and headed for the farm. Andrew took the lead on hiving our first bees. The process is pretty simple:. 1) Pull the feeder can out of the box. 2) Carefully remove the small queen cage. Pull out the cork and replace it with a small marshmallow. 3) Place the queen cage between the two middle frames of the hive. 4) Place the bee box upside-down on top of the frames. In the beginning . . . | Adventures in Beekeeping
https://mechambees.wordpress.com/2008/06/07/in-the-beginning
Just another WordPress.com weblog. In the beginning . . . Before any beekeeper can hive their very first bees, they must first prepare all of their equipment. We decided to use a standard Langstroth hive using deep hive bodies for both the brood chamber and the honey supers. Most hobbyist beekeepers will use medium or small honey supers, but we decided that it would be easier to just use the same size super for everything rather than have to worry about different sized equipment. Raising Mecham • On growing up, humor, and seeking a happy full life
Finding Treasure and Becoming. July 12, 2015. Yesterday was spent fruitlessly (or fruitfully, depending how you look at it) cleaning and organizing, I believe, in an attempt to de-clutter my brain. My life is like one big scavenger hunt. Surprise! Receipts from four years ago! Chargers from old cell phones! As you might hav...
