Tim's Motorcycle Diaries: December 2014
http://tkmotorcyclediaries.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Sunday, 14 December 2014. Variations on a Theme. Trying some variations on the blog logo. It'd be a nice idea to include the bike of the moment in the logo as way of showing when it was written. The first logo has the 650r Ninja in it:. Now that I've got the Concours sorted, I'm trying out some headers with Connies in them:. Some more updates since mechanicalsympathy.ca and a new bike came along. Labels: Tims Motorcycle Diary Logos. Saturday, 13 December 2014. Connie's Ready For Some Miles. With the bott...

Tim's Motorcycle Diaries: The Ride To Indy
http://tkmotorcyclediaries.blogspot.com/2015/08/the-ride-to-indy.html
Friday, 14 August 2015. The Ride To Indy. We are bouncing over some astonishingly bad interstate in Northern Michigan on our way to Flint. Retread carcasses litter the side of the road, the only thing missing are clouds of flies above the rubber corpses. The Super10, Concours and three riders ready for an adventure. We crossed the border (my first border crossing on a bike! So, where are you guys headed? To Indianapolis for the MotoGP! After running our passports he asks, "you guys excited? And the best ...

Tim's Motorcycle Diaries: January 2015
http://tkmotorcyclediaries.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, 31 January 2015. After wandering around the NAIM. S the one motorcycle wish I had was RACER5. I had a nice chat with the people running the stand and after seeing that, a weekend in the summer getting my race license would be the most awesome May/June or early July weekend birthday present I could think of. They run the three day course at Grand Bend Motor. They also offer kit rentals, so I could get a good idea of what size I'd need as well as how racing gear fits. Labels: Grand Bend Motorplex.

Tim's Motorcycle Diaries: We Live in the Future! Motorcycle Gadgetry
http://tkmotorcyclediaries.blogspot.com/2015/08/we-live-in-future-motorcycle-electronics.html
Sunday, 2 August 2015. We Live in the Future! This nice bit of graphic design caught my eye. The Tomtom GPS system. Is uniquely suited to motorcycling. It's waterproof, bar mounted and offers some smart software that is motorbiking specific - like find the windiest route between here and there. As if the Tomtom wasn't enough, I then came across the 360Fly. Fixated since they first came out, and tried other action cameras. But this is something else. I can't wait to try this on a motorcycle! Tim's Motorcycle Diaries: The Ride to Indy: The Gear
http://tkmotorcyclediaries.blogspot.com/2015/08/the-ride-to-indy-gear.html
Wednesday, 12 August 2015. The Ride to Indy: The Gear. After putting well over a thousand miles on in five days I've been able to focus on what works and what doesn't. Here's a quick rundown of the gear used and how well it worked. I used the Alpinestar S-MX 1 boots. There and back again. Vented and able to catch air on even the hottest day, I've had them for a couple of years now. They aren't as clean as the stock-pic, but I like the lived-in look. On sale for sixty bucks, but we were running low on spa...

Tim's Motorcycle Diaries: Drivetest: Everything That's Wrong with Ontario
http://tkmotorcyclediaries.blogspot.com/2015/08/drivetest-everything-thats-wrong-with.html
Saturday, 1 August 2015. Drivetest: Everything That's Wrong with Ontario. When I think back to the late '80s (the last time I had to involve myself in driver testing), I recall reasonable wait times, full time employees invested in what they were doing and a general sense of competence. I left with my driver's license feeling like my time wasn't wasted and the people there knew what they were doing. The lost souls trapped in the beige, fluorescent lit hell that. This picture, I hope you like it. In a mat...

Tim's Motorcycle Diaries: The Ride To Indy: A Day At The Track
http://tkmotorcyclediaries.blogspot.com/2015/08/the-ride-to-indy-day-at-track.html
Saturday, 8 August 2015. The Ride To Indy: A Day At The Track. I'm in an entirely dodgy hotel by the Detroit airport after a long day in the saddle. Indy was fantastic. The weather has been epic and the Concours has been faultless. I've only got the phone pics at the moment. The camera pics will have to wait until I'm home and can get them off the camera, they look pretty sharp. We got there early and were directed to the back gate and onto the back straight of the oval- all bikes who showed up. Racers d...

Tim's Motorcycle Diaries: August 2015
http://tkmotorcyclediaries.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, 30 August 2015. What we have here is a Yamaha XS1100 'Midnight Special'. It looks like it needs some love and is for sale for $500 along with some extra parts. The flash from the phone makes this '70s bike look pretty disco! The XS1100 is a late '70s/early '80s 'super' bike. From what I've read it's Yamaha's Vincent Black Shadow. You're spoiled for choice. Is readily available (I'm finding Haynes manuals lacking in covering many motorcycles). This could be a winter sanity thing. A Change of Pace.
