Founder of the R and D company Mecwood Oy is Rauli Kemppi. Since 1974 he has design sawing machines which can be found over 60 mills. His work has been for such companies as: Plan-Sell (nowadays known as Heinolan Sahakoneet), Kockums Industri (nowadays known as Söderhamns Eriksson Ab) and Valon Kone Oy. Mecwood Oy was founded by him in 1994. Mecwood locates in Savitaipale, which is in south-eastern part of Finland.
