Please upgrade to a browser that supports frames. For the population living in the east and north-east of Democratic Republic of Congo, 2008 was a bleak year. In January of that year, a peace agreement in Goma, between the Congolese army and various armed groups, brought a of hope to the people of North and South Kivu. However, sporadic fighting continued throughout the year until full-scale war resumed at the end of August, 2008. The destiny of everyone in this region is shaped by war and daily violence.

Medic-Aid Africa was set up by a small team of trauma doctors, following what was due to be a one-off trip to DR Congo to provide humanitarian aid in the growing crisis. It rapidly became clear that just one visit would be nowhere near sufficient. Church members are encouraged to nominate charities and twelve are chosen to receive the proceeds of retiring offerings at services during the month. However, until Easter 2012 we are making a big effort to raise a considerable sum for “Get Kids Going”, a charity which supports disabled young people to take part in sporting activity.
