Medical History: June 2015
http://medicalhistory.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Monday, June 8, 2015. Digitalis - or putting my toddler into heartblock. My family and I have recently moved to a different part of the country and while I wait for the paperwork to go through to start a new job I am getting on with planting a garden in our new home. I came home with seeds - pansies, sunflowers, violets and foxglove all of which looked very pretty on the packet and was planting them while my toddler enthusiastically helped (as toddlers do). So what is foxglove, apart from quite pretty?

Tuesday, February 18, 2014. Mother and Child: Vera Scantlebury Brown. Dear Readers: I must apologise for my long absence. I have been very busy having recently produced a Baby Turkey and then attempting not to kill said Baby Turkey. Fortunately its more difficult than it seems. Vera Scantlebury was born in 1889 in rural Victoria. Her father was a country doctor, and he and her mother raised all their children to believe in the importance of educational attainment, regardless of sex. Links to this post.
Medical History: Rear endings
http://medicalhistory.blogspot.com/2014/10/rear-endings.html
Thursday, October 2, 2014. An enema, where fluid is inserted into the bowel via the rectum, is a very useful tool in a doctor or a nurse's toolkit. It's also often the butt of many, many a joke. (Forgive me for that one. I couldn't help myself). In modern medicine enemas are most frequently used to help with constipation, clear the bowel out prior to a surgical procedure such as a colonoscopy or to help in imaging, for example in a barium enema. References can also be found to enemas in Babylon and Assyr...

Saturday, July 26, 2014. An Eye for War. This wasnt the post I was planning to write, I had one planned about leprosy, - but I can never resist a story about a good Australian doctor, so hopefully you can all wait a little longer for that tale. Sir Ryan at the time of his enlistment (public domain image sourced from the Australian War Memorial Collection. Links to this post. Tuesday, July 15, 2014. To the heart of things. Over the last few weeks I have been forced to watch a lot of soccer. Please note, a...

Tuesday, March 3, 2015. General Practice Past: Dr Ettie Lyons. If any of you follow my Facebook. Feeds you will know me to be a proud (and recently vocal) General Practitioner. You will also know that in the last little while my specialty has taken a political beating and I am not the only GP feeling more than a little devalued and questioning my choice of career. We will start with Dr. Ettie Lyons. Bachelor of Arts Graduation photo - Dr. Lyons is in the middle). On her return Dr. Lyons came back to ...

About | Body of Knowledge College

Body of Knowledge College. Are you one of those people who are fascinated about the lives of regular, everyday people who lived long before us? When you pop a frozen dinner in the microwave, do you ever get sidetracked by thoughts of how hungry you might have been had you been born in the way-back-when? Especially if feeding yourself involved having to actually raise, grow, kill, store and then cook something that had enough nutrition to keep you strong enough to do it all over again the next day? I̵...

Enough work to do and strength enough to do my work. Jan 1st, 2020 at 5:02 PM. This is the journal of Dr. Turkey. Dr Turkey is a writer, wannabe photographer, pathetic fangirl and celebrity gossip whore. Despite this very busy schedule she occasionally finds time to train as a GP obstetrician. This is a journal of rants about teevee, movies, work, life, study, exams, life minutia and so forth. 2 comments Leave a comment. Jun 22nd, 2015 06:54 am (UTC). Aug 2nd, 2015 11:51 am (UTC). Dog Bunny Ears – Flipped Frogs Live Here
https://flippyfrog.wordpress.com/2014/05/20/dog-bunny-ears
Flipped Frogs Live Here. Plus a few other people. May 20, 2014. April 12, 2016. Posted in I Knit. Do you want your doggie to be beautified up to look like a bunny rabbit? You know you do. You want your doggie to look this cute:. Or maybe you’re normal and you don’t tease your puppy like I do. Gambit doesn’t seem to complain about being dressed up, so as far as I’m concerned, it’s his own damn fault. Anyway, I thought I might just share this pattern anyway, as I’m kinda a bit happy about it. Knit two stit...
How to Run a December/Christmas Market Stall – Flipped Frogs Live Here
https://flippyfrog.wordpress.com/2013/12/01/how-to-run-a-decemberchristmas-market-stall
Flipped Frogs Live Here. Plus a few other people. How to Run a December/Christmas Market Stall. December 1, 2013. April 12, 2016. Posted in I Knit. Ma and I are old hat with these December markets. We’re totally onto our third one. Which is actually a big thing and loudly tells all who understand a market stall that we are suckered in now. There is no turning back. You can tell the dedication of a marketter, or maybe their experience, at two key times of the year. So, how to make it work? I know that I&#...
Jungled up dresser – Flipped Frogs Live Here
https://flippyfrog.wordpress.com/2016/07/05/jungled-up-dresser
Flipped Frogs Live Here. Plus a few other people. July 5, 2016. July 5, 2016. Posted in I Natter. Major project of the nesting period, and probably the one I’m most proud of, next to the mobile. When the Boy and I first moved in together, I realised quite quickly that there wasn’t enough space for my clothes. I am, at heart, cheap, so I also didn’t want to pay for a new dresser. Instead I hunted on gumtree and came across a second hand chest of drawers. One coat of primer, a decorative amount of acrylic ...
And so I return – Flipped Frogs Live Here
https://flippyfrog.wordpress.com/2013/11/17/and-so-i-return
Flipped Frogs Live Here. Plus a few other people. And so I return. November 17, 2013. April 12, 2016. Posted in I Knit. Unlike a prodigal anything, mind. More like a guilty dog slowly slinking in and hoping you don’t notice the the fact I just ate your long cared for rose bush. So I’ve been away a while. A long while. And I still love it. In the meantime, a glorious scarf I’m knitting. The wool is from Bendigo Woollen Mill, soon to be our primary source of wool for our stall. The pattern co...I love that...
This is not a quiet space – Flipped Frogs Live Here
https://flippyfrog.wordpress.com/2014/05/04/this-is-not-a-quiet-space
Flipped Frogs Live Here. Plus a few other people. This is not a quiet space. May 4, 2014. April 12, 2016. Posted in I Knit. I trawl a lot of knitting blogs. Mostly it’s in an attempt to identify interesting patterns to hack at next, or to work out what my newest pattern is trying to tell me. You know, the whole grandma-knitting stereotype. I know they probably don’t intentionally mean to come across this way, but I just can’t help but have it in my head. The first point of difference is I have a dog:.
