Nibbles and Bits: Gingerbread House
http://thenibblesandbits.blogspot.com/2009/12/gingerbread-house.html
The nibbles of food I make and the bits of stories that go with them. December 21, 2009. In keeping with the holiday spirit, [The Now Former Male] and I made a gingerbread house. YAY! Except not from scratch. Long story short, I decided gingerbread houses are for people who have endless amounts of time on their hands. I am not one of those people. Gingerbread house pieces and bowls of candy beckoning us to assemble the house. (yes, my dinning room table is really my desk). This took far too much effort a...

Nibbles and Bits: Braised Brussel Sprouts
http://thenibblesandbits.blogspot.com/2009/12/braised-brussell-sprouts.html
The nibbles of food I make and the bits of stories that go with them. December 4, 2009. Mr Brown prepared his sprouts several ways and two in particular caught my eye… the roasted version and the grilled version. The roasted version wouldn't work in my oven - it's uneven cooking would either under cook them or turn them into mushy masses. And grilling? 1 stalk Brussel Sprouts. Fresh Ground Black Pepper. This is quite easy; it just takes a bit of prep work. Halve or quarter each sprout (only quarter the l...

Le Cordon Bleu AT MY HOME: Lesson 7: The Menu
http://lecordonbleuatmyhome.blogspot.com/2009/03/lesson-7-menu.html
Le Cordon Bleu AT MY HOME. Learn by doing: a quest to improve my cooking skills. Wednesday, March 11, 2009. Lesson 7: The Menu. Lesson 7 from page 42 gives me an opportunity to continue to improve my pastry skills with the Choux Puffs, extend my learning of Bavarian Creams, and try ingredients that I wouldn't normal cook in Guinea Hen. I really liked Gruyere cheese from the Swiss Chard Gratin in . 160;Here is the menu:. CHOUX PUFFS WITH GRUYERE CHEESE. GUINEA HEN WITH CABBAGE. I have waited some addition...

Le Cordon Bleu AT MY HOME: Lesson 7: Shopping
http://lecordonbleuatmyhome.blogspot.com/2009/03/lesson-7-shopping.html
Le Cordon Bleu AT MY HOME. Learn by doing: a quest to improve my cooking skills. Saturday, March 21, 2009. Guinea Fowl for Lesson 7. As I had expected, the shopping for ingredients wasn't very difficult for Lesson 7. The best part of shopping was being able to spend some time with my nephew who completed the last minute shopping for the fresh vegetables and a few other ingredients. Pretty easy and straightfoward. Posted by Mark Palmerston. Good luck and your meals have looked and sounded delicious so far.

Le Cordon Bleu AT MY HOME: January 2009
http://lecordonbleuatmyhome.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Le Cordon Bleu AT MY HOME. Learn by doing: a quest to improve my cooking skills. Saturday, January 31, 2009. Lesson 5: Lessons Learned. The lessons from menu 5 are Mayonnaise and Creme Anglaise. The rules that are so helpful would be to bring everything to room temperature before beginning and adding the oil drop by drop until the sauce begins to emmulsify. Then adding the rest more quickly is just fine. The additional lessons that were pretty evident to me are:. 1 Cleaning whole fish is not my strength.

Le Cordon Bleu AT MY HOME. Learn by doing: a quest to improve my cooking skills. Monday, September 29, 2008. Lesson 1: Lessons Learned. A big part of the draw to this book for me is the teaching/learning aspects of the book. Here are my thoughts on what I have learned, or at least what I can take forward as I tackle the next 89 lessons:. In Lesson 1, the instructional pieces were Roasting and Preparing Fruits. . Up first, the bad:. 4 Who knows about photos? 160;I am still trying to figure this one out.

Le Cordon Bleu AT MY HOME: Lesson 4: Cooking and Eating
http://lecordonbleuatmyhome.blogspot.com/2008/12/lesson-4-cooking-and-eating.html
Le Cordon Bleu AT MY HOME. Learn by doing: a quest to improve my cooking skills. Friday, December 12, 2008. Lesson 4: Cooking and Eating. Entertaining adds an element of complexity to any meal. Adding to the complexity of entertaing was also trying to ensure that there was enough food for 12 people. Each menu serves 6, therefore I tried to double each recipe. My math wasn't so hot on doubling the recipe for the Swiss Chard Gratin, however, being such a rich dish, there was plenty for everyone. The swiss ...

Nibbles and Bits: The Meatloaf Cake
http://thenibblesandbits.blogspot.com/2010/01/meatloaf-cake.html
The nibbles of food I make and the bits of stories that go with them. January 3, 2010. This took almost 3 hours from start to finish to make. It's an all in one meal so I served it with salad. In addition to the ingredients, you will need two 9-inch round cake pans. I suppose you could use any shape, but you need two to layer properly. You can use your favorite meatloaf recipe or you can use mine. I don’t eat pork so this is all beef:. 3lbs ground beef (I use one package of 80/20 and one package of 93/7).

http://thenibblesandbits.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
The nibbles of food I make and the bits of stories that go with them. February 21, 2010. Due to our recent break up, I've gone through and replaced his name with "[The Now Former Male]". I don't want to talk about it, but I'm taking a small break. Maybe working on a few new recipes or posting some oldies will be beneficial. We'll see. In the meantime, if you go back and read, now you know why that is the replaced name. Posted by The Nibbler. February 7, 2010. Or a pasta attachment. 2 Tbsp olive oil.
