They call the wind...Mariah...: November 2010

They call the wind.Mariah. Friday, November 12, 2010. Marathon #8 - Oorah! As usual, my blogging is very sparse. Would it help if I said that I would LIKE to blog on a more regular basis? Anyway, marathon #8 is complete! My brother Gabe and I ran the Marine Corps Marathon on Halloween. The trip was pretty good and it was fun to be in DC again. I love how much there is to see there! How crazy is that? If either of us had known that would happen, we could have just run the whole thing together! So, I gave ...

They call the wind...Mariah...: July 2010
http://wwwmariahbliss.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
They call the wind.Mariah. Saturday, July 31, 2010. Ooh, yet again, it's been a while since my last post. I guess life got a little too busy for me this past month! Let's see, what have I been up to? This past February I auditioned for a local CR production called, "Follies." I'd heard of it before, but had never seen it, so I really wasn't sure what to expect. Basically, it's a variety of singing and dancing acts - this year's theme was "Viva Las Vegas.". Then it was vacation time and I traveled to Denv...

They call the wind...Mariah...: 50K...errr, 25K Race!
http://wwwmariahbliss.blogspot.com/2010/12/50kerrr-25k-race.html
They call the wind.Mariah. Thursday, December 16, 2010. 50Kerrr, 25K Race! Last weekend, my friend Carrie and I ran in a local 25K or 50K ( 31 mile) race. It was the first year for this event and we thought it would be fun to do. Yes, we thought it would be FUN to run a 31 mile race, in Iowa, in December, on a trail, in the snow and cold temps. We girls know how to have a good time! So, race day is a bit rainy, but at least it's a balmy 30 degrees outside! I have to say, even though it was raining and no...

They call the wind...Mariah...: Catch up...
http://wwwmariahbliss.blogspot.com/2011/02/catch-up.html
They call the wind.Mariah. Tuesday, February 22, 2011. Well, yet again, I've neglected my blog. Oops! My life has had a significant change since my last post. Many of you already know about it, but I'll share it here. I was awakened late on Tuesday night in mid-January, to hear that my dad had bleeding in the brain and was in the ER. After some cat scans, he was taken, by ambulance, to UIHC. It was determined that he had had a brain aneurysm. It's been a difficult time for all of us, and definitely a rou...

Saturday, January 31, 2009. Monterey, Day Two. Our hotel is right on the beach, and I fell asleep last night to the sound of the ocean. It was so rhythmic and relaxing, it made me (almost) understand why people buy those cheesy noise machines from Brookstone. But, there's no substitution for the real thing, and I slept like a baby. I woke up this morning to this gorgeous view from our window. I totally snapped a picture. I am turning into my mother, God help me. We strolled around the shops in Carmel and...

Friday, November 27, 2009. Last weekend, my mom and I traveled to San Diego to participate in The Breast Cancer 3-Day. Benefiting Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The 3-Day is a 60-mile walk, approximately 20 miles per day. I had heard great things about the walk from Amber. So, it was a pretty powerful weekend. Here's us right before the opening ceremony at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. We look so happy and energetic. The energy did not last. :). And, we were off! How cute is my mom? I have to say that one of th...

Sunday, November 30, 2008. We had a whole mess of people over at our house to celebrate our day of gratitude and gluttony. Nineteen people, to be exact. This was especially ambitious given I had (very routine) surgery on Tuesday. Thank God for my mom who flew in from Alaska. My grandma's first reaction was, of course, "Where are you going to. All of those people? Well, we cleared out our formal living room and rented some chairs. It ended up working out pefectly. Some pics of our Thanksgiving table.

Sunday, March 29, 2009. I cannot believe my little baby sister is 26. Holy Lord. To celebrate, she had a get together with her med school friends on Friday night. Josh and I drove out there after work and hung out with a bunch of her pals. There were a ton of people (duh, everyone loves Bug! And my sis was mouthy and bouncy as ever. Saturday, we had a family bbq to celebrate her birthday. The weather was beautiful. That, plus family and a fridge full of beer and wine, what more could we ask for? Unfortun...

Sunday, March 14, 2010. I do not profess to be crafty. (I can knit, but that's it.) I am not even terribly domestic. But, last May, I ordered a very basic sewing machine on a whim after being inspired by looking at some incredible quilts by Denyse Schmidt. After looking at her quilts, I felt the desire to create. Something. It was, perhaps, a reaction to the stress that I wanted to make something "pretty." Or, maybe I am nesting. Who knows. I am in love with anything by Fig Tree Quilts. I gave it to Bug ...

Sunday, January 3, 2010. Paris, Day 6: Notre Dame, Saint-Séverin, Panthéon, and Jardin du Luxembourg. A picture of the interior of Notre Dame. After Mass, we went to see Sainte-Chapelle, tied with Notre Dame in my book for most beautiful Parisian church. However, the line was over two blocks long. There was so much more to see, Josh suggested we keep moving, so we did. Next time. :). Our next stop was Saint-Séverin, a lovely old church on the Left Bank. Alexandre Dumas and Victor Hugo. But first, lunch!
