Mi Viaje a Chile. Thursday, August 2, 2012. There's no place like home. Last you heard from me on here, I was celebrating finishing my classes in Arica. The celebration didn't end there, however. On Saturday night I went to one lat basketball game in Chile and eventually ended up at a little restaurant to celebrate a Chilean friend's birthday. My group got the special treatment when we were out Saturday night and got to try out some pretty awesome hats. Looks like my parents are happy to have me back :).

Mi Viaje a Chile. Sunday, July 22, 2012. That time I almost went to Bolivia. Greetings once again from Arica! Cactus is about all that can survive in the dry conditions this area has. Just don't get too close. Seeing sights like this makes it hard to imagine that everyone back home in Iowa is still dealing with over 90 degree weather. Then we went and visited this old church that is under construction. They have quite the project going. We even had to wear hard hats while exploring here. A view of Putre.

Mi Viaje a Chile. Friday, June 29, 2012. Something Smells Fishy Here. Well everyone. The weekend is here once again! Its hard to believe I've now been here for four full weeks. I'm more or less halfway done with my time here. Craziness! This week was another very busy one, as I had a test and a presentation to get ready for, and my group got our trip to Machu Picchu all set. We're heading out in less than a week for a 6 day/5 night adventure! A view from the dock. I'm on a boat! A seafood lover's dream.

Mi Viaje a Chile. Wednesday, July 11, 2012. My Week in Peru! A view from the bus. It had been a while since I'd seen this much green, so I just had to get a picture of it. And it had been a while since I've seen cows, so that was exciting too :). My first hostal :). Then, my group started the next day by going to a chapel known as Qorikancha. This area was very important to the Incas and it is said that it was once covered in solid gold. One of the gods this temple was dedicated to was Inti, the sun god.

Mi Viaje a Chile. Friday, July 27, 2012. School's Out For (the rest of) Summer! In case you aren't aware, yesterday was my last day of classes here in Arica. Its amazing how quickly time has gone here. After finishing up classes yesterday, a few group members and I decided to go out and celebrate (It is our last weekend here and all). We started out the night at a bar called Contraverdi with a few drinks and eventually ended up at our favorite discoteque, Drake. My Chilean family :). To Tacna We Go.

Mi Viaje a Chile. Monday, July 16, 2012. To Tacna We Go. Since I don't have class today (its a holiday here), I figured I would fill you all in on the trip to Tacna I went on Saturday. We hopped on a bus at about 8:30 Saturday morning, crossed the border into Peru, and we were soon in the beautiful city of Tacna. First, we visited a chapel. It was huge and it had awesome details. Cool fountain outside the chapel. This arch (Arco de la Alianza) is near the chapel. It was built in honor of war heroes.

Wednesday, January 26, 2011. I was cleaning out my picture files on my computer, and found a few pictures that I loved from this past year. I decided I would share my favorites, and a little late sort of sum up my 2010 in pictures! This was on our Youth Group ski trip in Canaan Valley, the beautiful things at the top of the Mountain. I was blessed with a wonderful gifted piano. This was my award winning picture in WVCEA Fine Arts competition. This was taken on a wonderful valentines day date with Matt.
