The Global Adventures of a Midwestern Girl... (by Megan)
Bella Roma | Passports & Postcards
https://meganalford.wordpress.com/2013/11/12/bella-roma
The Global Adventures of a Midwestern Girl…. On November 12, 2013. In 2008, I visited Rome for the first time. Several Miami friends were living there, and I spent a week and a half touring Italy with them. While I wanted to visit them again, it didn’t happen. That is, until we became country neighbors! One of my first priorities upon moving to Europe was to spend a weekend in Rome. (Yes, many of them still live there – 5.5 years later! And past the Pantheon]. And who could resist the new four-story H&M?

The Global Adventures of a Midwestern Girl…. Buildings, Baths and Babies in Budapest. On June 29, 2015. Over the weekend, I visited a city that blew me away! Maybe it’s the magnificent architecture or the gritty city feel or the fancy thermal baths or the beautiful cafes, but…I get ahead of myself. I polled a group of friends more than a month ago to see who might be up for a long weekend in Budapest. In the end, I got one taker…a friend from Lausanne. She is in my Connect Group. 8211; one of the ruin pu...
Would you like to have a coffee? | Passports & Postcards
https://meganalford.wordpress.com/2015/08/06/would-you-like-to-have-a-coffee
The Global Adventures of a Midwestern Girl…. Would you like to have a coffee? On August 6, 2015. Yesterday, I wrote about lunchtime. The second thing I completely forgot to mention is what happens when we finish eating. (And no, not the part about putting our trays on the conveyor belt.) Coffee! At the end of nearly every lunch, the person I’m eating with (and once in a while me, if you can believe it) asks, “Would you like to get a coffee? One thought on “ Would you like to have a coffee? Notify me of n...

The Global Adventures of a Midwestern Girl…. 8220;It’s football time in Tennessee! On October 28, 2016. I inherited two sports teams from my dad – the St. Louis Cardinals and the Tennessee Volunteers. I have seen loads of Cardinals games over the years, but finding my way to Knoxville to see the Vols is a bit more complicated. Four years ago, I saw them beat NC State in Atlanta, but it’s been five years since I went to a home game in Knoxville. I had a REALLY long drive (roughly eight hours! We made it u...

https://meganalford.wordpress.com/2015/08/13/full-house
The Global Adventures of a Midwestern Girl…. On August 13, 2015. Two Miami friends (who also happen to be twin sisters) and their families came to stay with me last weekend. (You know one of them, because we’ve caught up in Rome. The other bonus of the weekend? My Sophomore year roommate was in Geneva for the weekend visiting her husband who was here for work. It was such perfect timing to have four Miamians together in Switzerland! The positive of the crazy storm was a magnificent rainbow! Five dinners ...

Make something… Today! Here’s why I think everyone should make something, anything, today…. First of all, doesn’t creating something, putting something positive out in the world, sound like something everyone should want to do everyday? For me, making something, picking up an pattern and just getting going on something new, is always a big experiment. And I think the biggest barrier for me to getting started with a new project is fear of failure. It’s probably why I love knitting so much. I generally thi...

An Aran sweater all nighter…. I have a new appreciation for why a fellow blogger calls herself All Night Knitter. I was so close to finishing the Aran sweater. I’ve been knitting for my husband since January, that I stayed up late to finish the shoulders and neck last night. I was so caught up in it that I looked up and the clock read 3:47am! It’s not finished and blocked yet but here’s a preview. More details to come in a future post. July 19, 2014. Finally, a finished Fair Isle! No really, gauge swatch!

Today is “Quilt Sandwich” Day in the Craft Attic. I’m back from a long blogging and crafting hiatus! I started refreshing my craft room back in December and at that time I promised my husband that I would stop all projects until the craft room was finished. But the craft room is done and I had my open house last weekend. So now I’m starting new projects and finishing old ones. Look for an overview of the craft room rehab in a future blog post. April 25, 2015. An Aran sweater all nighter…. July 19, 2014.
Finally, a finished Fair Isle! | Given Stitches
https://givenstitches.com/2013/12/30/finally-a-finished-fair-isle
Finally, a finished Fair Isle! It’s true, I have finally finished my very first Fair Isle sweater, started long, long ago. It took me over a year, in fact. Of course, that included a 5 month hiatus because I got so angry after frogging the sleeves over and over to get the tension right. Here it is in all it’s glory! I love the throwback pattern ( Amy Keefer’s Downton Pullover. And have honored it here with a retro hairdo. Four Things I Learned from My First Fair Isle:. Do your homework on technique.

A summer sweater, falling into place…. Blocking my Summer Sweater Back in the Kitchen. I am just about to finish my second sweater ever. Yes, it’s a spring/summer sweater. Yes, I started it in April, and yes, it’s September and therefore I probably won’t get much wear out of it…. I’ll post pictures of the finished product, of course, but I wanted to share the WIP pictures of the blocked pieces because, well, I’m just so darn proud of myself.
