XUP: Forest of the Damned
http://urbanpedestrian.blogspot.com/2008/06/forest-of-damned.html
Sunday, June 1, 2008. Forest of the Damned. Did ya’ll see this news item on the weekend? New photos of a tribe of people living deep in the Brazilian rainforests near the border of Peru. Apparently, the country’s National Indian Foundation has known about this tribe, and three others like them, for over 20 years and is releasing photos now to bring attention to the fact that their existence is being threatened as the deforestation of the rainforest accelerates. Of course, the experts. One would assume th...

National Capital Rock: The devil you know
http://natcaprock.blogspot.com/2010/05/devil-you-know.html
Thursday, May 13, 2010. The devil you know. The Devil Eyes following The Secret Loves with their ultrafuzzy, freaked-out blues rock. Their set got off to a bit of a bumpy start when Matt broke a guitar string straight out of the gate - then again when I saw them in July 2008 at the Bytown Tavern stuff was breaking right and left too. They covered Johnny Kidd's Please Don't Touch. This time around too. Matt puts the guitar on, strums strings, breaks one, takes guitar off . You can also follow me on Twitter.

XUP: A Word About Eggs
http://urbanpedestrian.blogspot.com/2008/06/word-about-eggs.html
Monday, June 2, 2008. A Word About Eggs. You don't hear too much about eggs - the occasional. Ad, maybe. Eggs got a bad rap back in the anti-cholesterol days and they never quite recovered, even though they proved themselves to be artery-friendly. Eggs just keep a low profile now. They're seen as kind of comical. I don't know why. Maybe because the way they're shaped or because it's so easy to draw funny faces on them. My enjoyment of eggs grew in proportion to the time elapsed since I tended chickens.

National Capital Rock: July 2014
http://natcaprock.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Monday, July 28, 2014. Solo, with company. On Friday I went off to Pressed to catch some indie-rocking and singer-songwriting acts. The occasion was the release of Jon Hynes' new CD, Watchful Creatures. Another Jon, Jonathan Pearce of Winchester Warm, started things off with some stuff from his regular band, performed solo style. Here he is, conveniently backlit by the street light outside. The man in full, plus lighting. Pat and Sarah . Army of Saint Joan. Saturday, July 26, 2014. Verse The Sun was the ...

National Capital Rock: Teachable moments
http://natcaprock.blogspot.com/2015/07/teachable-moments.html
Monday, July 27, 2015. Amanda Panda on drums! Robby Bobby on bass. Fun fact: Adrian is, in fact, a teacher.). Adrian heads outside to check out his wireless! All that running about, a man has to take the weight off. Moving right along, we have the human musicians of Human Music, Jory, Mef and Cole. The band works out of Winnipeg and essays the sort of pop I can see emerging on Twisted Nun. Jory rocks the Fender VI. Singalong action with Mef! Mef gets in some bass time. Backup action with Mef and Jory!

Asteroidea Press: Bad Spellah
http://asteroideapress.blogspot.com/2008/04/bad-spellah.html
Friday, April 25, 2008. I cannot even describe to you how excited I am about the Queer Spelling Bee tonight. Even though I now know I am a terrible out loud speller. When I saw the facebook note about the Bee, I emailed Don at the Shanghai right quick to get my name on the list. Who wants to spell? Who likes The Gay? And China Doll said, let there be space. What is it about spelling? Oh, the hubris. Victory! Before the fall, Butcher. It's mine! It was a good lesson, and though I wasn't pleased that I was...

Asteroidea Press: Getting Serious
http://asteroideapress.blogspot.com/2008/05/getting-serious.html
Friday, May 02, 2008. Tonight: I have turned down fun with Shelley, M-C and Mel; also turned down a very different kind of fun with Smokin' Hot Mae. You might think tonight and tomorrow are unrelated. Probably also sick of what's on tap. Posted by Asteroidea Press. Is there a theme to the reading or is it just your new material? It's Chandra's book launch, so that's the theme of the reading overall. There's a bit of a theme to mine, but I'm going to keep it a big secret until tonight. In my banner and pr...

Reading “Show Yourself To Me: Queer Kink Erotica”. Hot, Wet & Touring. So You’re Having An Abortion (in Halifax, Nova Scotia). Halifax Dyke and Trans March. Peeholes, pooholes, all holes. Peeholes, pooholes, all holes. The butt is just bait. This blog post is entirely unrelated to that beaut of a bum. Today, I’m going to take a departure from my normal advice giving blog post style and participate in a little something called a Blog Hop. And now I will do the same. What is the working title of your next.
