Megan McCluskey: Printmaking-Monoprints

http://meganmccluskey.blogspot.com/2010/04/printmaking-monoprints.html

Friday, April 9, 2010. I was proud of myself for being so careful with the white background of this composition. I get so messy when I am working most of the time, but I was on it that day. I am also very pleased with the colors that came out in these two pieces. They are quite different from anything else I have done. A little more earthy. They remind me of "autumn colors". The first piece is 22"x 30". The second is a 13" square. Both are embossed with the visible image. View my complete profile.

Megan McCluskey: March 2010

http://meganmccluskey.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html

Wednesday, March 31, 2010. These are a few images from my show, "A Certain Resemblance," which were exhibited in Packard Hall during the week of February 22-26. However, now that it is all over with, I have been spending some time documenting everything, both the work in the show and the stuff that didn't fit in. I will continue to upload photos of these images. A note about my prints:. The smaller square prints are generally about 13" square and the larger are full sheets 22"x30". Links to this post.

Megan McCluskey: Monument Creek

http://meganmccluskey.blogspot.com/2011/04/monument-creek.html

Sunday, April 10, 2011. This view of Monument Creek. From the northern most bridge in Monument Valley Park. Is one that I have wanted to paint for a long time. I have been jogging or walking by this scene, usually stopping to take a look, for about ten years. Interestingly, the creek itself has not always been among the most attractive places in Colorado Springs. For the longest time it smelled like a port-o-potty! Excited for warm weather? Labels: Colorado Springs outdoors. Hiking in Colorado Springs.

Megan McCluskey: Hand Painted Dining Table

http://meganmccluskey.blogspot.com/2009/12/hand-painted-dining-table.html

Tuesday, December 29, 2009. Hand Painted Dining Table. His is the surface of my mom's kitchen table. It is a pine wood table my parents bought at least ten years ago. Then I had an Idea. Scattered Flowers: How I did it. So, I went out to the backyard and cut some wildflowers from the garden. I held each one in my left hand, looking at it as I painted it onto the table. When I had all the flowers scattered around the surface of the table I decided I wanted to fill the entire space with color. At the begin...

Tuesday, March 20, 2012. In a Poster Contest Frenzy! Maybe it was my seldom seen competitive spirit resurfacing, or maybe I just needed to make something, or maybe. It was the $500 and VIP tickets reward! But I entered a poster contest. For the upcoming 2nd annual USA Pro Cycling Challenge. For watching Clio and Conor for letting me borrow the new mouse! This is my personal favorite, and the last one I created. My brother, Adam, was my model (thanks, Dude! If you think of it ,. For my designs on Facebook!

Rita Salazar Dickerson: Beginners Drawing Class

http://ritasalazardickerson.blogspot.com/2015/08/beginners-drawing-class.html

Follow my Blog by Email. Monday, August 3, 2015. I'm enjoying this new "season" of my life where teaching has been woven into my life as an artist. Almost everyone, it seems, wants to learn how to paint and last November I readily agreed to teach an introductory class to painting. One class led to another and it has been fun watching students find joy and satisfaction in the creative process of painting. Photo credit: Annie Stevens. Photo credit: Annie Stevens. Value scales were discussed and created.

Tales from northern England and beyond. Summer Chicks →. July 7, 2012. Now I get it. After reading all of Liz Curtis Higgs’. Novels and always trying to imagine “the gloaming” she would describe…well, I get it now. And I love it! 20:50 (8:50 pm) I’ve had to learn to tell 24-hour time here. An extra friendly cow. He was HUGE! 21:00-Flowers grow EVERYWHERE here. These, I can assure you, were not planted. They came up by seed. 21:25-Thank you God for this incredible sunset. View all posts by Em →. Especiall...

http://ritasalazardickerson.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Follow my Blog by Email. Sunday, June 22, 2014. Sketch Book Drawings: Hospice. I have a lot of painting to do but clearly, this has not been the time. I have been staying at a hospice. Center with my mom, waiting for my dad to pass. So, instead of painting, I turned to my sketch book to help break up the hours and record memories as my family waited and took turns holding his hand. Joseph was named after his grandpa. He waited too. The hours were long for this patient 8 year old. Links to this post.

Follow my Blog by Email. Wednesday, April 30, 2014. This is another new painting in my Colorado Landscape Series that you can see at G44 gallery. I had fun with this last piece. It is from the plein. Air study that I did when visiting Steamboat Springs. Are more commonly painted in the fall with their golden leaves. I chose instead to focus on the dance movement of the tree trunks. Curving, bending, seemingly swaying to the music of the day. 8x10", Oil on canvas. Rita Salazar Dickerson (c) 2014. Near Was...

Tales from northern England and beyond. Newer posts →. March 1, 2012. Okay, so I know it’s March 1st, but these flowers have been here for almost the entire month of February and I just had to share them with you. They have come up everywhere! The sun usually peeks through the clouds almost every day–most days for a couple of hours and some days for just a few minutes. I love this climate! Oh, and one more interesting tid bit: the flower planters actually come back in the spring! I almost threw mine away...

Follow my Blog by Email. Sunday, November 16, 2014. I have never thought of my self as an aspen tree type of artist until I took my palette. Knife out. And then it was a completely different story. A palette knife freed me from so many inborn tendencies to make straight lines and consistent edges with aspens. I also had fun with color and texture. 10x10", Acrylic on canvas. Here is a step by step example of how I painted my second one. Once the canvas was completely tinted and dry I was ready to begin.

And so it seemed appropriate that both of these elements would be a part of his portrait. 20 x 16", Oil on canvas. Painting the contour lines. Starting with the eyes. Once I felt like I had his likeness I began painting the eyes, the focal point in this portrait. I started his shirt by blocking in the darker shades of blue resting in the folds and creases.
