A photographic journey of the Chinese diaspora. Tuesday, January 27, 2009. It's 2 AM and I have a flight out of London to Rome in 5 hours. I arrive in Rome at 10 AM and then have about 12 hours to roam around Rome, then I will take a midnight flight to Addis Ababa, arriving in Ethiopia around 8 AM local time. So 2 days without any real sleep. Sunday, January 25, 2009. Here are some photos of the Liverpool Chinatown celebration. Happy Chinese New Year. Sunday, January 18, 2009. Lakes district, England.

My China: June 2009

A photographic journey of the Chinese diaspora. Tuesday, June 30, 2009. Believe it or not, I left Boston for Lima 365 days ago. That makes a year, which means my Watson Fellowship is coming to an end. I'm now in Singapore, and will be leaving here in less than 12 hours for a long voyage back home to Concord, Massachusetts. I haven't thought too much about what this blog will become when I'm home; I imagine I'll keep posting photos, perhaps some reflections on this past year's odyssey, and the like. Addin...

My China: March 2009
http://cedricbien.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
A photographic journey of the Chinese diaspora. Saturday, March 14, 2009. Friday, March 13, 2009. After this awesome year is over, I am going to medical school in New York. Right now I have to fill out some paperwork - which is really quite excessive - listing every course I ever took, when I took it, what grade I got. Considering how academic-free this year has been, I am amazed I made it through college. Australia is considered the fourth most developed nation on the UN's Human Development Index. The i...

My China: Lebuh Gereja and other Portuguese influences
http://cedricbien.blogspot.com/2009/06/lebuh-gereja-and-other-portuguese.html
A photographic journey of the Chinese diaspora. Friday, June 26, 2009. Lebuh Gereja and other Portuguese influences. I am now in Malacca (Melaka) which, along with Georgetown, was recently made into a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As a crucial port along the straits of Malacca, the city is a mish-mash of influences from the Portuguese, Dutch, British, Chinese, Indians, and of course, the Malays. Yes, the quintessentially Japanese deep-fried veggies/seafood, also has Portuguese origins. Id rather be working.
