While in Nepal I have lived with two different families (one in Kathmandu and one in Tukuche) and now am staying at a hotel run by a family whom I drinking tea, speak in Nepali, and watching Hindi soap operas with – and they are related to my advisor’s family! I did pujaa for all of you this morning. I hope that everyone is spending lots of time with friends and family. You are all in my thoughts. Om mani padme aum.

Living in "the yam between two boulders". Sunday, December 19, 2010. After an hour we started heading back to the elevated platforms where we had first climbed onto the elephant's back. We saw the outlines of 5 peacocks within 100 yards of the platforms, but the vibrant, striking colors were hidden by the mist still as thick as before. As shapes and physical features like trees and the river faded behind me as if in a dream and all I found myself doing was staring into the mist. View my complete profile.

This time last week, I was sitting in my ISP advisor's home in Pokhara typing up my research findings and now I am sitting in my hotel room in Boudha (Kathmandu) after having been woken up by the Tibetan Buddhist monks chanting session.
