Monday, September 22, 2014. I stopped by a branch of the Dubai Public Library today and took a few photos. This is what it looked like:. Very pretty, and full of resources, but one of only 8 branches. To serve this city of more than 2 million people. Burg Khalifa is within view. Across the street is Safa Park to compete with, (UAE version of Parks and Recreation rivalry? I like the air conditioned bus stop directly in front. Nice landscaping and even a water fountain by the door. Into the Frying Pan.

Tuesday, June 16, 2015. Ramadan is like a snowflake. View from my apartment, 37th floor. I can hear the call to prayer from neighboring mosques. Update: no moon is visible in the sky over the UAE tonight, so Ramadan here will begin on Thursday. Monday, June 8, 2015. Zayed University End of Year Celebration. Today the end of the school year was marked with a really nice end of year appreciation lunch. The Vice President and the provost each addressed us and counted our achievements. Thursday, August 21, 2014. My husband, Erik, arrived with me 2 weeks ago and left earlier this week. Aside from helping me get my apartment set up, we acted like complete tourists. We saw the view from the top of the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa, then ate dinner there. Atmosphere is on the 123rd floor and has excellent food and drinks. Friday, August 1, 2014.
