At two o’clock in the morning, more or less. My dog, Irang, growled in my ear. She’s a Chihuahua/Jack Russell cross, and she couldn’t have done anything more appropriate. I was less discerning, and pulled open my bedroom door to go and see what was worrying her. After all, I had burglar bars. I lied, of course.
