For those who are Melbourne Curious. A celebration of the city's architecture, streetscapes, heritage and style. Wednesday, October 27, 2010. Could this man be the saviour of Melbourne's heritage? Is not a 'strategy' so I am very eager to hear what is actually envisaged by the Coalition. Earlier this month Mr Baillieu condemned the 91-metre tower Windsor development (approved by Planning Minister Justin Madden) and expressed concern over. Disgracefully, this once beautiful station has been allowed to bec...

I have just received news that Melbourne Open House (MOH) attracted a record 65,000 visitors this year! Completed in 1990, the tower is often cited as the epitome of the 1980s extravagance that saw a handful of opulent, postmodern skyscrapers built in Melbourne. On the day, we were ushered into the lavish boardroom of. Subscribe to: Post...

Explore at least one suburb in Melbourne per week. Week2 Moonee Ponds – Queen’s Park (1). November 9, 2010 – 12:06 am. Posted in Inner North. Entering the park, you will see a lot of people lying on the grass reading books. Then furthen down, a lot of weddings going on. I couldn’t distinguish between different weddings but I am sure there were at least three. In fact, Garden Weddings at Queens Park have been promoted by Moonee Valley city council. A water gazebo attracted a lot of birds sitting on it.

Explore at least one suburb in Melbourne per week. October 10, 2010 – 9:02 pm. Parkville belongs to City of Melbourne and locates north of the CBD. Apart from Melbourne University, Parkville has a lot of heritage terraces which are actually very dim. Royal Park is another landmark of Parkville which is a big park occupying a large block between Royal Pde, Flemington Rd, Park St and some other random streets. Which probably only exists in Wikipedia now. This slideshow requires JavaScript. You are commenti...

Explore at least one suburb in Melbourne per week. July 6, 2011 – 12:19 pm. It has been almost three years since I came to this continent and resided in the city of Melbourne. And yet I haven’t had any chance to visit the capital city of our neighbouring state, Adelaide of South Australia. So I booked a flight at the end of last financial year in order to make it sound like I am having and EOFY holiday in the city of serenity. Laquo; Week2 Moonee Ponds – Queen’s Park (1). Explore at least one suburb in Melbourne per week. July 7, 2011 – 12:09 am. Adelaide is said to have the highest restaurants per capita rate in Australia. It also claims itself as the city of wine (Melbourne is having this tendency as well). I guess Adelaide claim is very genuine, providing the fact that when you walk into a restaurant for lunch you see almost every table has ordered wine. Maybe it happens in Melbourne as well but I don’t see it that often. Laquo; Southern Love (1).

Built in 1883-87, the former ES&A Bank was designed by architect William Wardell in the gothic revival style. The lancet windows, lofty ceilings and narrow spire emphasise the verticality of the building - a technique often used in the architecture of gothic cathedrals to give the impression of height.
