Melissa in Boston

Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. April 23, 2013. Yesterday, I spent a lot of the day thinking about what I could blog about. When I first created this blog, I thought it would be a good way to track my growth as I adapted to Boston. It started as an attempt to document my move to Boston and my transition from college student to graduate student. That lasted 3 posts. And then I disappeared…for 5 months? So here it goes…. For about 2 years now I have been religiously following 7-10 blogs...

Adjusting | Melissa in Boston

https://melissainboston.wordpress.com/2012/09/24/adjusting

Skip to primary content. September 24, 2012. Come on, this happens to everyone. I know I’m not the only one. Here are some other personal anecdotes centering around me getting lost or making ridiculous mistakes/not paying attention/living in a bubble since getting here. I’ve learned to laugh at the ridiculous-ness of my mistakes…it’s ok, you can too! Oh, just a sidenote-this all happened in 1 day. Oh, yeah…its probably smart to read the highlighted sign on the train that indicates what line it is a...

https://melissainboston.wordpress.com/2012/09/20/starting-fresh

Skip to primary content. September 20, 2012. So here I am, in Boston, MA, for the next 3 years. I have just started Northeastern University’s MS/CAGS program in School Psychology and have enjoyed what I have experienced of it so far. Beat the Irish this weekend🙂 ), but I have also started grad school, moved to Boston, and moved in with my best childhood friend. Laugh, cry, get angry, study, explore and learn with me as I take on this new life! Photo from: harvardmun.org. This entry was posted in Random.

Sidenote: I did manage to still get lost coming home). Mom and dad, relax! I have also gone wayyyy outside whats typically comfortable for me and have gone to parties where I know 1 person. Who am I? Grocery shopping- can only buy as much as I can...

Obsessing about everything | Melissa's thoughts on games, research, work, parenting and the rest

Melissa's thoughts on games, research, work, parenting and the rest. Playing with Absent Friends. Warning. Disgusting story ahead. Many of you know the story of our camping toilet. It has spent the last four years on the porch of the kids’ cubby house (“the only cubby with an outdoor loo”), waiting to find a new home, and occasionally holding cash for tradies (“the money is in the dunny”). We arranged for her to collect it this morning. Friends, I picked up that camping toilet, and it SLOSHED. On October...

My Question Is...

Life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forwards." - Soren Kierkegaard. Sunday, August 24, 2008. I have to ask myself. I think it's because I have a fear of being Steve. Of being that guy who has no imagination. There is something about seeing a world of clones that makes me go "no! And to lose your imagination your ability to dream to see the world in fresh and exciting ways to not be your unique self it just seems so sad. Posted by Melissa @ 8:09 AM. Tuesday, August 12, 2008. My life in China | I left all my doubts on the airplane.

My life in China. I left all my doubts on the airplane. December 10, 2010. Well, yes. The time has come. I come home in a week. It’s bittersweet, the entire situation. I’m unsure on where to start.
