I feel like I'm reading Lonely Planet or some other travel writing periodical when I read your blogs, except your writing is cleaner (mostly) and more enjoyable. You should publish. I've been back for five months, and I'm trying hard not to completely assimilate. August 11, 2008 at 5:07 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Rest in the Shadow: October 2009

http://restintheshadow.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

Thursday, October 29, 2009. Such sweet memories we invoke. So oft’ walked alone. Now enter splashing tango in drizzling midnight. And small talk sentiment for hours on the phone…. Cheek to cheek, dancing rhythm. Begins to exfoliate intricately woven designs. And extinguishes the addiction. Of once-fashionable tattoos of caustic shame. And on flaky white chill winter night. Dull images flash across my flickering screen. And I’m reminiscing about things that have not yet made the scene. So, I forgot to upd...

Rest in the Shadow: July 2010

http://restintheshadow.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html

Saturday, July 10, 2010. What a joy it was to be your father, Mariah. What an amazing God-given miracle. And now, 16 years later, I sit on this hillside, outside the Rotunda, sipping an evening espresso. I wonder what decisions you will make in the next 16 years, nay, the next year ahead of you. What university or walk of life will woo you? What calling or vocation will expose you to both the right and wrong of this consuming world outside your present bubble? What kind of woman will you become? Moving F...

Rest in the Shadow: June 2009

http://restintheshadow.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html

Tuesday, June 23, 2009. I know this much is TRUE: For the most part, TV will suck the life out of you. In a moment of insomnia driven weakness, recently, I caught the last half of the 80’s brat pack film 16 Candles. Films like these bring back hauntingly embarrassing. Memories of my pubescence, by the way. The rest of the movie is CRAP! Did we really live this way back then? After all, there was a time when I frequently applied layers of aquanet in an attempt to adequately feather my long hair. Dazzling,...

Rest in the Shadow: Batman in Winter

http://restintheshadow.blogspot.com/2010/03/batman-in-winter.html

Wednesday, March 3, 2010. Watching three episodes of The Office: Season 5; And on this unseasonably lion winter March day in Virginia: Yoghurt, blueberries, goat-cheese and mushroom omelet, really well-brewed (by me) coffee, snow, sleet, DRUDGEREPORT. The Alyssa Reeves Super Awesome Blog. Laughing at the photo of Miles the cat enjoying his first yoghurt; laundry, lists, excel spreadsheets, calendars, and planning my return to the next cycle of Vampire Bat-life and sleepless nights. 03 March, 2010 14:28.

Rest in the Shadow: notHing Heroic Here

http://restintheshadow.blogspot.com/2009/06/nothing-heroic-here.html

Sunday, June 14, 2009. If only I knew the answer. If only I could hear the whispered response. Do you ever hide yourself away so that in solitude you can simply cry? I would wipe away your tears if only I could hear the rhythmic pattern of your warm drops on cold floor. Do you ever burst out laughing? I would giggle and roll on the floor in awkward and relentless animation if that would even splinter your expression into a smile. Do you ever gaze hopelessly at the stars in the dark of night? Seven years ...

Rest in the Shadow: BOY MEETS GIRL

http://restintheshadow.blogspot.com/2010/05/boy-meets-girl.html

Wednesday, May 19, 2010. Girl wants to run like the wind. So they both stay. And they learn to trust. And love. Again. And that’s a good thing. And I hope the girl will truly stay,. Because she means the world to me. And she’s smiley. Infusing a radiant yellow back into my deepest of mellows. She makes me laugh. And blush. And feel purpose in my veins again. She challenges me to be translucently real. And to live for something better than myself. She complements me, filling in for my inadequacies. So my ...

But I knew I had to leave because life can’t stop. And I have to keep my feet in the ruts of this course or I’ll be swept into the barren desert. Did you know David Wilkerson says our cities are about to explode with more destruction and raging fires than we have ever seen. I don’t know about that. So may we be ...

I know what you’re thinking: after a month and a half of being back in the United States after 6 months, why would she just be posting this last blog now? She answered by picking up one of the starfish, tossing it into the water, and saying, it matters to this one. Before embarking on this life-changing journey, I jotted down a journal entry that went like this:. Posted by: The Imagined Life.

Tuesday, April 8, 2014. Downloading and opening EBSCO e-books on a Google Nexus tablet. So, last night I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep for a few hours. Since my brain wouldn't shut up, I decided to put it to use on a problem I had been wondering about for a while: how to get my library's EBSCO e-books to work on my tablet. I have no idea how these instructions would need to be modified for anything else, but I'm fairly certain iPads would need to use different software than what I'll be listing.
