We left Damascus two days ago in the morning and drove several hours stopping first in Ma’aloula, one of the only remaining towns to speak Jesus, also known as Aramaic. We stopped in a little church and got to hear the Lords Prayer performed by the local priest in the native language. It was humbling. Laquo; Golan Heights visit.

I couldn’t post it until we left the country due to the security issues surrounding the visit. Here it is:. I couldn’t help but to take pause and reflect on my own childhood. How different they were, but the curiosity, laughter and excitement were the same. That was my only physical encounter with the Zabaleen. I’ll never forget that momentary winc...

Things are looking up for Al Jazeera and US relations, however. With the turn of administrations and the Bush legacy quickly burning, Al Jazeera is making breakthroughs in our media. On July 1. Al Jazeera will be broadcast in 20 different US cities, including Washington D.C. It starts to lose impact. Lewis referenced the Vietnam War. It took imag...You a...

Skip to search - Accesskey = s. Melissa Leiter’s Blog. By mleiter on June 3, 2009. So Carlene is requiring us to write a personal reflection, though still unable to digest it all, this is what I came up with:. It’s that strange feeling where five weeks ago seems like forever, yet it also went by very quickly. I look at my journal and see my notes and business cards and tourist attraction entrance tickets and it almost all seems so foreign. Did I really do all this? The biggest thing I have learned in lif...

Skip to search - Accesskey = s. Melissa Leiter’s Blog. By mleiter on May 24, 2009. Damascus is BY FAR, top five places I’ve ever been, up there with Budapest, Prague, Ireland and midcoast Maine, of course. (And no- I don’t have to say this because the officials here are making me.). His name) loves us! After weaving through this delightful market, which I WILL be going back to- at least once. We came to the end or the beginning? After the mosque we went to X palace. It was so beautiful. The court...Later...

Irony, Balance and Lack of Sleep: My Time in Cape Town. Adventures of journalistic sorts in S. Africa. Newer posts →. Just another Cape Town sunset…. January 31, 2011. Camera in hand, I push past the modern day Gatsby characters and run across the street, down the bank to the beach where the wind is blowing the white sand hard in to my legs and my hair blows about my face. Enjoy the view, I did! This slideshow requires JavaScript. January 31, 2011. And Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains). Further more...

Irony, Balance and Lack of Sleep: My Time in Cape Town. Adventures of journalistic sorts in S. Africa. Kirstenbosch Picnic →. February 1, 2011. Saturday morning after two hours of sleep, I awoke in a hurry to meet Archi at the gate on time at 9 am. I don’t know why, but for some reason, I don’t need sleep in South Africa! Maybe it’s because I will be hibernating in my ice box of an apartment by the end of the week. We head to our last wine tasting of the day (yes, we only made it to two) pleasantly surpr...

Irony, Balance and Lack of Sleep: My Time in Cape Town. Adventures of journalistic sorts in S. Africa. My own personal hell… →. February 1, 2011. Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden is world acclaimed, and only costs 40 rand (around 6 dollars) to get into, hardly a price to pay for what I imagine somewhere in heaven to be like. The garden is never ending, literally, as I learned several times when I got lost on the paths up, down and around the hills of the greenest grass and prettiest flowers. South ...

Irony, Balance and Lack of Sleep: My Time in Cape Town. Adventures of journalistic sorts in S. Africa. Part II) →. My own personal hell…. February 4, 2011. 8230;Frankfurt airport. I absolutely hate this prison. And it’s honestly not the layover! I’ll die if it’s snowing in Canada and my flight to Toronto is delayed. I’d rather risk the crash. It’s that bad. How am I supposed to positively endure my 5 hour lay over when that’s how it starts? At 5 am none-the-less after an eleven hour flight. Seriously?

Casseroles on the porch. 11/19/2010 by Melissa Leilani. The plan is to expand the blog, now that I’m hosting it myself, and combine it with my first site, so that everything eventually shares the same domain. So if you’re good enough to subscribe to my blog, either by email, RSS, or via a reader, please replace it with http:/ melissaleilanilarson.com. Doesn’t that look all shiny and grown up? Right now the blog is the home page, so that’s all you need to subscribe. Hear Say. Hearsay. When did this happen?

I didn't know what to say or even how to say it. I guess being honest would be a good way to go,. But you all really wouldn't believe how naive you all have been. The demons I fight everyday are not demons people want to hear about. Most people couldn't even imagine them anyways. The demons come in the form of people too. How does one touch...
