The Will To Draw: Pastels
http://thewilltodraw.blogspot.com/2015/04/pastels.html
Wednesday, April 1, 2015. If you are like me, you enjoy experimenting with different mediums. I decided to try using soft pastels after watching Lynn Chapman. All in all it was quite enjoyable, and I plan to do more in the future. Below is the video of Lynn creating an illustration in pastels. Posted by Tom Barrett. Hey Tom, nice illustration. When I was in art school we used spray fixative to keep the dust down, and create hard edges. Glad to see you are still drawing, and blogging. 8/1/15, 12:51 PM.

The Will To Draw: July 2014
http://thewilltodraw.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 16, 2014. Yes, though it may seem that I have once again left the blog-o-sphere, I am still here. I have recently found the time and will to begin working on some art, albeit small and quick and a bit messy. I say messy as I did not stretch or tape the watercolor paper prior to working on it, which makes it a bit difficult to work on the more it curls! I can already tell a difference in my attitude since I started back, so I am looking forward to doing more. Posted by Tom Barrett.

The Will To Draw: February 2015
http://thewilltodraw.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, February 26, 2015. I had hoped to have this more completed before posting, but alas, the day job has to take precedence. Anyway, it is complete enough that that you get the idea. At the top is my initial thumbnail, and on the left is me trying to get the boys' hands correct (hands and hair still give me trouble). My goal is to complete this, along with others, in time for the Don Freeman Grant. Deadline (getting really close). Prayers and encouragement always welcomed! Posted by Tom Barrett.

News, reviews and other fun stuff. Monday, April 30, 2012. As a child, I loved to pore over the pages of illustrated guides to just about anything: trees, flowers, clouds, the more detailed the better. Truth be told, though, I usually ran out of steam for the exploration about half-way through, overwhelmed by the sheer volume of variety that existed in the natural world. 8211; that make hummingbirds such exceptional creatures. Eye Candy: Illustrator Blogs. Word-y Candy: Author Blogs. What is a Sweet Square? Sweet Square is the name I've given a month-long exercise in artistic experimentation. The idea was inspired by author-illustrator Melissa Sweet. After attending a presentation she shared at the SCBWI. Summer Conference last month. Melissa graciously shared ten rules for growing as an artist, and the first rule was to work every day. Can I play too? I will have a lin. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.
