Harrison Happenings- in NORTH POLE, AK. Wednesday, May 22, 2013. Only in Alaska #15. It's a beautiful day in the mid-60's today so we went to "the beach." (Actually Chena Lakes Rec Area, but it has a nice beachy shoreside.). We arrived to quite a shock: the lake was still almost completely frozen. The kids had a grand time playing in the sand, though, and even ventured into the small amount of water at lake's edge. See that pile of snow still sitting on the frozen lake? Did you know that an iPhone won't work if it's left outside in -20 degree weather? One day I was looking for my phone and I just couldn't find it. I tried calling it from the home phone, but it went straight to voicemail. After much frustration, God had mercy on me and helped me remember that I had emptied the trash earlier that day. I heaved a huge sigh of relief.
