Recipes used in an attempt to eat locally in Austin, Texas. Friday, January 31, 2014. In Austin, winter doesn't last long, so while it's here, I try to make the most of it. We're a soup once a week or so type of family. I embrace recipes that require long periods of time simmering on the stove or slowly cooking in the oven. We loved this and our house smelled like loveliness for an entire day. I started this in the morning, then set it aside and finished it later in the afternoon. This serves 6 - 8.

While that normally wouldn't make a difference to a recipe blog, if you have recipes from library books to modify, it makes a big difference. While I have enjoyed the two recipes I made from Greenspan's Around My French Table, it's not one that is going on my "to buy" list. Too fancy and time intensive. Adapted from Dorie Greenspan's Around my French Table. 1 small onion, sliced.

Sometimes, a holiday comes around and you just don't want to make an entire turkey and dressing. A whole turkey is a big deal and feeds a large crowd, so the years it is just may family and my in-laws for Christmas, I make this dish instead. It feels like turkey and dressing, but it is easier and feeds more small group I am cooking for better than a 12 lb turkey. Serves 8 - 10.

Recipes used in an attempt to eat locally in Austin, Texas. Wednesday, June 9, 2010. Pasta with Easy Summer Sauce. This is another of my tried and true Moosewood recipes. Thanks to green beans in our CSA box a couple of weeks ago, this recipe was resurrected. I then remembered it is also a very good recipe, even if you omit the green beans. We all enjoyed this. M had to put the ingredients all into separate piles to eat, but she did eat two big servings. Pasta with Easy Summer Sauce. 1/4 t black pepper.
