Melynda's Noted Inspirations: August 2010
http://melyndaroy.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 30, 2010. Shel Silverstein is a marvelous artist because of his ability to aim his artwork for children. I love the amateur cartoon aspect, and neutral colors-contrary to most childrens illustrators. And of course, the message in the story is unforgettable, no matter your age :). This art creates a distorted reflection of reality, creating interesting images. It also causes wonder- what is hiding behind the black walls? San Francisco, CA. Keone Madrid's "Black and Gold".

Melynda's Noted Inspirations: February 2013
http://melyndaroy.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
Tuesday, February 26, 2013. I have seen these books numerous times, especially at shops like Urban Oufitter. I am sure you have noticed "finish this book" or "wreck this journal"? Is a gallery from other readers on her website, it is quite cool. Although her Pic of the day says "I am not a Brand", I think she has created a very specific persona for herself and her work- much like a brand of a company- but hers is much less corporation-like, and more fun! Melynda's Noted Inspirations: David Mach
http://melyndaroy.blogspot.com/2013/01/david-mach.html
Thursday, January 17, 2013. An interview in the Telegraph. I find Mach's use of material very interesting, I originally was inspired by magazine use as I am interested in Recycling. But largely his work uses unconventional materials. I love "jesus college portfolio" the last picture. It is comprised of several duplicate images. I find it really interesting that the same material can be repeated and changed and manipulated into something completely different than it originally was. View my complete profile.
