Memoirs of a Shell Carver: Spondylus Collection
http://memoirsofashellcarver.blogspot.com/p/spondylus-collection.html
The Spondylus shell is a valuable commodity here in the Marianas Islands. In ancient times, these shells were used as money and for trade. These are some of my spondylus collection that I've acquired right here in the Marianas Islands. If you are a collector of these shells and are interested in acquiring them, let me know. Wednesday, February 16, 2011. Shells. Bone, Horns and Stone. Welcome to Memoirs of a Shell Carver. I'll be sharing some of my work here on this blog as I complete them. I'll also share some of my thoughts about the island of Saipan (and the Marianas), the Chamorro culture, and carving as an art form. Posted by shell carver. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Memoirs of a Shell Carver: Horn Carvings
http://memoirsofashellcarver.blogspot.com/p/horn-carvings.html
My horn carvings are mostly from cow horns collected from the island of Pagan in the northern islands. The color of the horn can be obsidian black to mocha brown. Below are some of my recent horn carvings. Created with flickr slideshow. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Me at my workshop. Selling at the Saipan Grand Hotel. New pendants and a baby goat. Memoirs of a Shell Carver: Bone Carvings
http://memoirsofashellcarver.blogspot.com/p/bone-carvings.html
Bone is another material I like to use for my carvings. All my bone carvings come from the leg bones of cows. The designs I carve from bone range from hooks (haguet in Chamorro) to arrow heads. Take a look at some of my bone carvings below. Created with flickr slideshow. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Me at my workshop. Selling at the Saipan Grand Hotel. New pendants and a baby goat. Memoirs of a Shell Carver: New pendants and a baby goat
http://memoirsofashellcarver.blogspot.com/2011/03/new-pendants-and-baby-goat.html
Tuesday, March 1, 2011. New pendants and a baby goat. So I have a few more pendants completed and oh, I also have a new baby goat. Yep, that's me with my goat. Here are a few of my new pendants. I've also added more pictures to the collections on the right Menu to the Horn and Aliling carvings. This is a horn "sinahi" (crescent) pendant with spiral weave chord. You can see the spotting of the horn material which gives it a unique look. Posted by shell carver. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

I Luv Saipan: March 2010
http://www.iluvsaipan.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
March 9, 2010. Along The Beach Path. I found myself once more at the dealership getting my truck serviced for a mysterious engine light that was triggered. It was my day off and so instead of waiting at the dealership, I brought along a book and my camera and walked over to the beach path that is beside Beach Road. I luv this path, and it's a great addition to the Saipan landscape. Many residents use the path to walk, jog, bike, fish, and sit to enjoy the beautiful lagoon and trade winds. March 5, 2010.

June 2, 2011. Taste the Rainbow, an Ice Keki Rainbow. When I was a little boy on Saipan, oh so many years ago, a regular treat was to get ice keki on a hot day. Amazingly, the Chinen Ice Candy Store in Garapan is still around selling ice keki at the same location that I remember. What is ice keki? Ice keki, another reason I Luv Saipan. Hu guaiya hao mama). March 31, 2011. Spending the day on Tinian. Tinian has a lot of history. It was converted into a naval airbase after the U.S. secured the Marianas during WWII, and it is famous for being the origin of departure for the Enola Gay and the atomic bombs that were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I Luv Saipan: September 2010
http://www.iluvsaipan.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
September 13, 2010. Scenic Drive through Marpi. On a day when the rain stopped and the sun peeked out from behind the clouds, we went on a scenic drive up to Marpi, in the northern tip of Saipan. Marpi is a must see if you ever visit Saipan. Most of the historical sites and natural landmarks are located here, such as Banzai Cliff, Last Command Post, Suicide Cliff, the Grotto, and Bird Island. I Luv Saipan: January 2011
http://www.iluvsaipan.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
January 24, 2011. What do you do on a Thursday night? Go to bed early? Well on Saipan, there's the Street Market. It's a venue in Garapan where the street fronting the Fiesta Resort and Hyatt hotels are closed to through traffic. Tents are setup on the street where you'll find vendors selling prepared food, produce, and merchandise. There's usually some form of entertainment as well, where local students or groups dance, sing, or do some kind of performance. Hu guaiya hao mama). Posted by Xavier Castro.

Memoirs of a Seatfiller by Nicole Psomas
Memoirs of a Seatfiller. I am a Seatfiller. For about a decade this has been something I have done for fun, sans pay. I’d never heard of a Seatfiller (noun) or seatfilling. One thing I’ve ascertained over the years is simply this… even if you’re a no one, you’re a someone. Click here for the link to my blog. Enjoy! Http:/ memoirsofaseatfiller.wordpress.com.

Memoirs of a Shameful Lush. I am 23 years old and coming to the end of my university ‘experience’. Alcohol has so far, without a doubt, destroyed my life. I am trying to piece together the remnants of broken relationships and yes, dreams that I once had. In blissful anonymity I hope I can find solace in expelling my demons and finally realise that I am indeed, not alone. Tuesday, 18 November 2008. My first A.A visit. Memoirs of a Shit Show. My life is a shit show. Period. February 4, 2014. When Vacations Attack- Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. Day 2 Serengeti. Our first game drive into the campsite was incredible! Day 3 I saw the sunrise January 1, 2014 in the Serengeti. It was majestic! We did an early morning game drive which was really amazing. I made a monkey noise and the old cranky Upper West side New Yorker Terry reprimanded me and told me that this wasn’t a zoo. I’m like hmmm yea it is! Do you hear that?

Memoirs of a Silent Soul
Memoirs of a Silent Soul. Saturday, November 8, 2014. I drafted this post back in February, but for whatever reason didn't feel like it was the right time to post it. I think it is now. I understand that it's not the most lighthearted of posts - but life doesn't always deal you the most lighthearted of times. This post has a lot. Of apologies to a lot. Of different people, but the one thing I won't. I'm sorry I couldn't be a better friend to you that time you were crying in the hall. I'm sorry if you don...
