Once all modules are completed to the satisfaction of the instructor, the student will receive a certificate of completion (no letter grades or academic credit are given). All instruction is in English. Though the textbooks readings and content of the course is applicable to archivists across many cultures and languages, the supplemental readings usually provide a Canadian perspective. Students can expect to work 10 to 12 hours a week on the course. Registration fee does not include cost of textbook.

AABC workshops are in-person gatherings designed to facilitate discussion and practical learning on a particular topic. They are usually 1 or 2 days in duration. They are not offered regularly but can be arranged by organizations who want to offer a workshop in-house or coordinate participation among several institutions. The AABC offers two methods of educational delivery: distance education and in-person workshops. Education offered by the AABC is aimed at those new to archival work, such as the always-popular distance course, Introduction to Archival Practice, but it is also aimed at practicing archivists who want to delve deeper into a particular media type or topic, such as our course on oral histories.
