Well, it's late and I missed posting for my Monday audience, but here is my rendering of Frank Herbert's Dune. Its a fantastic book and I really fell into drawing it for some time. There is a good body of sketches from that time I read the book over and over. A little bit of Moebius' concept influence and some David Lynch-ian feeling helped to round out my ideas as well. There is a tradition amongst this group of friends to put their dogs image on a skate deck proudly and lovingly. I was commissioned to decorate this one w/ sharpie, which as a medium on a gloss board was a little unforgiving.I had flashbacks of being 18yrs old all over again w/ the subject matter and the sharpies limitations.
