My first time to Vienna allowed me to revert to my status as typical English tourist as everyone conversed in English for my benefit, toddlers included. Back on the island. Tuesday, December 20, 2005. A long overdue and long winded trip home. In what was meant to be a cost saving measure i travelled home via Kuala Lumpur. Although i had a fantastic time there and was able to meet Coralie, Alex, Claire and Becky from my school days, the trip cost me far more than i expected. Back on the island. Tuesday, March 14, 2006. Shirogaoka Junior High School. Today the third grade classes. From both of my Junior High Schools graduated. I spent the morning in Shirogaoka JHS (城ヶ丘中学校 in case you care) before making the 8 minute dash across "town" to get to the post ceremony party at my bigger school. Back on the island. Wednesday, July 05, 2006. With alarming predictibility the long, long awaited onset of summer has completely changed my perspective of the life here. The incredible sunshine and warm sea has made this a fantastic place to live once again. It makes me a little sad to realise that in just four weeks my chances to see scenes like below will be restricted to two weeks each year and, even then, I will have to share it with others. Back on the island. Saturday, September 24, 2005. No more pineapples, please! The last week has been INCREDIBLY expensive! Anja became the first visitor to the island since I arrived and during her 9 days here we ate out (13 times), vistied Okinawa (twice), cancelled non-refundable airline tickets (once), took a ridiculously long taxi journey (once), rearranged other travel tickets (4 times) and stayed in hotels that I am not in a hurry to visit again (3 nights). Back on the island. Friday, November 25, 2005. Well the ekiden was (relatively speaking) a success in that I managed to finish it without vomiting, though with about 500 metres to go it was a very close call. I'm ashamed to say that had my Junior High School Head Teacher (校長先生) not been directly behind me on his moped then i would more than likely have jumped into some bushes for a 10 minute break.
