In the process of being rescued. Sunday, March 30, 2008. Lately I've been reading this book. Never before have I felt such a connection to the world community and the need to include food consumption into my theology. In our prayers at church on Sunday, we include a prayer asking God to give us all a reverence for the earth as his own creation, that we may use its resources rightly in the service of others and to his honor and glory. And such it should be, for we been given a great gift. I believe that i...

Krissy's stories: January 2010
http://krissystories.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Friday, January 29, 2010. Evening reading that blessed my heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising GOd for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them". What was the subject of their praise? Have you not found the gospel to be in yourselves just what the Bible said it would be? Jesus said He would give you rest- have you not enjoyed the sweetest peace in Him? Are not His ways ways of pleasantness, and His paths paths of peace? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Krissy's stories: February 2010
http://krissystories.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Sunday, February 14, 2010. Sometimes it's a hopeless place to work. But you get numb to it all and shake your head at another 50year old with pancreatitis withdrawing from alcohol for the 7th time in 6 months. "this time I will go to rehab." and "this time" he doesn't and he is back again the next month. When he learns that he is not in fact invincible.). And you pray for him and tell him about Jesus' peace and you remember why you are a nurse on a medical floor right now. And i am content. A visitor at ...

we must have richness of soul: September 2008

We must have richness of soul. Monday, September 15, 2008. I love fall in theory- the bright leaves, the clean wind, the warm clothes- but in my heart I know that as the darkness pulls tighter and tighter around my days and the sun becomes a friend who comes only for lunch, I will have to fight melancholy off with liturgy and friends and my love as best I can. http://yellowbirchroad.blogspot.com/2008/09/sun-king.html
In the process of being rescued. Tuesday, September 30, 2008. These days I feel like a sun-scientist (a helionologist? Who is so focused on studying the sun that he forgets that it rises. The hooting owl knows that the sun has risen and that she must sleep. The bird knows that the sun has risen and that he must sing. Even the sunflower turns his head toward the growing beams of morning light that move so quickly over the rolling hills of Illinois. Should I buy their shoes for them? If it rains during the...

Krissy's stories
http://krissystories.blogspot.com/2010/12/how-long-it-has-been-since-i-posted.html
Sunday, December 19, 2010. How long it has been since I posted anything at all. It's getting close to Christmas. Only 5 days to go. 6 days until I get to fly away to Washington, land of green and rain and a little bit more warmth. I am lonesome for the ocean and the mountains and the evergreen trees. I miss the lakes and the hills and the drizzling rain. I am looking forward to some lovely days in Washington with my family and seeing some friends. Cold weather does provide some new enjoyment. January 22,...

In the process of being rescued. Wednesday, July 30, 2008. Today is July 30th. Hello July 30th. And now, a poem by Dylan Thomas. Because that's the perfect companion for the epic metaphor. In The Beginning by Dylan Thomas. In the beginning was the three-pointed star,. One smile of light across the empty face,. One bough of bone across the rooting air,. The substance forked that marrowed the first sun,. And, burning ciphers on the round of space,. Heaven and hell mixed as they spun. The ribbed original of...
