Annapurna Trek Blog 2013. November 5, 2013. The trail took us into some back country pine forest with wonderful views of Dahualgiri, Nilgiri, and Annapurna . We went thru Dhampur to Titi lake and on to Kunjo before crossing the river to Ghasa on one of Nepals vertigo inducing suspension bridges. Spent the night at the Eagles Nest south of Ghasa. Annapurna Trek Blog 2013. November 7, 2013. Got up early and was on the trail at 5:00 for the 400 meter climb up Poon hill to see the sunrise on Annapurna. There was a large crowd of well over 100 people on the by the time the sun was coming up. The view from Poon hill is one of the best for Annapurna in the area, also a great view of Dahaulgiri. We took pictures for a while then left for breakfast and the trail. Also heard and got a glimpse of some monkeys as they inhabits the forest.

Annapurna Trek Blog 2013. November 7, 2013. Hiked thru the river gorge today, views of the high peaks were scarce , but did see a high water fall . Went thru several villages off the beaten path. One of the attractions of Tatopani are the natural hot springs. They were just what we needed to soak in after a long day of hiking. Stayed at the Dahaulgiri lodge , which had some of the best bake goods yet. The chocolate meringue cake and apple crumple were delicious . Tatopani to Ghorepani →.

Annapurna Trek Blog 2013. October 31, 2013. Spent two night in Manang (at 3400 meters) to acclimatize . Manang is the major town on this side of the pass with a dozen hotels/tea houses and shops where you can buy most a thing a trekker needs. Reminds one of an old west town, dusty with one main street /sidewalk. Hiked up to a small lake then up to a view point , Papu Chong about 1000 ft above the town for spectacular views of the Gangapurnan ice fall and Manang in the other direction. On Ghasa to Tatopani.
