My grandmother was born in St. Croix, but her parents were born in PR, which, really, is only a stones throw away (it's the Caribbean. You spit and it lands in a different culture). Four children; and the house where we still live, noticeably emptier, but the same house in the end. Cause they're different, are still famous among our family friends. She's been dead for eleven years.

Monday, November 21, 2011. Easy As (Apple) Pie. Who's gonna tell my apples turned brown before I cut them after they're baked? So half of my apples are sliced thin, half of them are sliced normal. Yes, yes, I'm special, I know. And then I started watching some Ina Garten and realized I forgot to sprinkle my apples with a little bit of salt. What. The. Fuck. Evidence of my craziness below. And, yes, I did freeze the pie in an empty bread bag. Why does this camera think it's August 14th? Easy As (Apple) Pie.

She says, "You roll them up like this. See? Then you slice. Not like that. You're gonna cut your fucking finger off. You're gonna get blood on the greens. What the hell? What are you doing? Mind you, this is still last week. But what does she do with the greens after they all cut up, nice and pretty? Why didn't I think of that.
