http://dressingthewell.blogspot.com/p/why-dressing-well.html
Why Dressing the Well? Why Dressing the Well? I grew up in Yorkshire, England, just across the border from Derbyshire. Later this evolved into making beautiful pictures of bible passages using flower petals, and the practice continues today. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Take the Jane Austen Character Quiz here! http://prayingadventthroughdarkness.blogspot.com/2010/12/advent-42.html
Praying Advent Through Darkness. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it. (John 1:5). Friday, December 17, 2010. Advent 4.2 - Discernment. He shall eat curds and honey by the time he knows how to refuse the evil and choose the good.". This is a complicated passage about the restoration of Israel, the place of anticipated peace where the young child shall be able to eat curds and honey. Was I going to go to the grocery? Did I decide to go back to seminary? In the meantime,.

Dressing the Well: October 2012
http://dressingthewell.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
Why Dressing the Well? Thursday, October 25, 2012. It's today, and honors St. Crispin and St. Crispinian, twins who were martyred in about 286. The Battle of Agincourt occurred on this day in 1415, and also the Charge of the Light Brigade on the same day in 1854. Truly, a historic day. So here's Shakespeare's speech with one of my favourite actors. Enjoy! Posted by Sue Palmer. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Take the Jane Austen Character Quiz here! It's the Question that Drives Us.

The beginnings of musing, wrestling, integrating, and writing about An Edge Faith. Part I is here. Again, I go back to James Fowler’s work. Fowler finds the writing of Wilfred Cantwell Smith in. The Meaning and End of Religion. To understand this wonderfully fluid and complex word called faith. In short. The cumulative tradition inherently has change built into its ver...

Dressing the Well: Cherishing Community
http://dressingthewell.blogspot.com/2011/10/cherishing-community.html
Why Dressing the Well? Thursday, October 20, 2011. A vital part of our bond is honesty, with each other and with our God. We are open, and feel safe in that openness. Sharing our worries, concerns, and joys helps understanding and reveals that deep down we have matching frailties! And the neat thing is we can rejoice with each other, even in our frailties! They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer." Acts 2: 42. Posted by Sue Palmer. Ive ne...

Dressing the Well: Pirates and Pilgrims
http://dressingthewell.blogspot.com/2012/09/pirates-and-pilgrims.html
Why Dressing the Well? Thursday, September 27, 2012. Perhaps that urge to travel is in my genes. I come from a country that was settled by many sea-faring peoples and used to "rule the waves". Could it be that I have pirates in my ancestry? I definitely have an affinity for the ocean. At the end of a vacation we took in Maine years ago, my husband had to drag me away from the shore to return home. It reminded me so much of the cold, blustery beaches of the North Sea that fill my childhood memories. So, p...

Coming to Terms...: Proud
http://mlraminiakcomingtoterms.blogspot.com/2015/07/proud.html
Thursday, July 2, 2015. The Fourth of July is creeping up on us again. It’s always an uncomfortable time for me, because I am so allergic to the concepts of patriotism, nationalism, flag-worship and glorification of the military that move to the front and center of our national consciousness on that day. In recent years…oh, since the onset of the Bush Administration, I’d say…I have taken particular exception to crows of “I’m PROUD to be an American! 8221;, and their accompanying. I may be fortunate.
