Methuselah the Medical Student: UK universities
http://methuselahmedstudent.blogspot.com/2009/08/uk-universities.html
Methuselah the Medical Student. An old man in a young man's game. Friday, August 28, 2009. I read the most strange statement. Today regarding the UK GCSE results from the Times'John O'Leary, who apparently writes for their Good University Guide:. Today’s results are vitally important, especially for those who are aiming for a selective university. Whatever those universities might think about GCSE as a measure of academic potential". Methuselah the Medical Student: Big return
http://methuselahmedstudent.blogspot.com/2010/01/big-return.html
Methuselah the Medical Student. An old man in a young man's game. Monday, January 18, 2010. Things that stopped my blogging:. Having to find a relevant image to illustrate a posting. Excessive quality control re referencing my posts. Well, I can rectify the first two and we'll see how the third goes. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Methuselah the Medical Student: We're all learning
http://methuselahmedstudent.blogspot.com/2010/03/were-all-learning.html
Methuselah the Medical Student. An old man in a young man's game. Monday, March 22, 2010. I'll try a bigger font for this one, I think. Interesting to see how he's progressed: his bedside manner was excellent and he seemed to have much more patience with us this time, stressing less about the small things. Perhaps before, he was in the middle of his intern blues, perhaps like us he's developing and improving. Either way, I was impressed with his approach. Best we've had so far. Methuselah the Medical Student. An old man in a young man's game. Monday, January 18, 2010. Summer is a bummer. Not sure I have six more weeks of them left in me, though. Methuselah the Medical Student: MMR & autism - hogwash
http://methuselahmedstudent.blogspot.com/2010/02/mmr-autism-hogwash.html
Methuselah the Medical Student. An old man in a young man's game. Wednesday, February 3, 2010. MMR and autism - hogwash. Living in the UK in the late 90s (as I did) it was hard to avoid the MMR scandal. I won't go into the details here. This. Now that the dust is settling, that the GMC verdict is in and that the Lancet paper retracted. Some reflection is appropriate. The other entity that comes out of this mess poorly is the magazine Private Eye. Oh God, and I forgot about their special report. The probl...

If only I can foresee things ahead of me… | medically ethically
https://medicallyethically.wordpress.com/2012/02/05/if-only-i-can-foresee-things-ahead-of-me
Becoming an ethical doctor is always a work in progress. If only I can foresee things ahead of me…. To tell the truth, I’m a little bit scared of this year… There are too many ‘what if’s’ and I never like them. When I was taking a siesta earlier, I suddenly thought of what I need to do this year. I am such a planner that the idea that nothing in the next few years will be certain is quite painful. 2 thoughts on “ If only I can foresee things ahead of me…. 07/02/2012 at 7:26 AM. 07/02/2012 at 8:53 PM.

Lady, your son doesn’t need any treatment. YOU DO! | medically ethically
https://medicallyethically.wordpress.com/2012/03/25/treating-the-mother-of-a-paed-patient-25
Becoming an ethical doctor is always a work in progress. Lady, your son doesn’t need any treatment. YOU DO! So, I was working in the ED yesterday because my preceptor is the VMO on call for this weekend. A mother brought in her son who has a small laceration on his chin. My son is injured badly! He won’t stop bleeding. Child wasn’t crying, but wasn’t saying much either. Me: OK, I’ll just get you to fill in the form and I’ll triage him in a sec. Mother: BUT HE’S BLEEDING! Child points to the chin. Me: Loo...

The Scheme of Things | medically ethically
https://medicallyethically.wordpress.com/2012/03/21/the-scheme-of-things
Becoming an ethical doctor is always a work in progress. The Scheme of Things. Today’s lesson is titled ‘The Scheme of Things’ for a reason. In the scheme of things, he is still alive. Looking at his car, I would have thought that he wouldn’t have survived. In the scheme of things, everyone else is unharmed. Ego bruising aside, no one died. Heck, no one, beside from my friend, had to stay in the hospital. In the scheme of things, it could have been much worse, but IT ISN’T. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Phase 4 in progress | medically ethically
https://medicallyethically.wordpress.com/2012/08/04/phase-4-in-progress
Becoming an ethical doctor is always a work in progress. Phase 4 in progress. I passed my final set of medical school exams! In a lighter note, Darwin is quite enjoyable. I’ve met a few other elective students from outside of Australia and we have spent a few days/nights hanging out playing trivia or going to the beach. It’s great that the buses are free, but public transport during the weekend is terrible. Hence why I’m stuck in the computer lab updating this blog. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Tales of V...

Dear rain, please stop… | medically ethically
https://medicallyethically.wordpress.com/2012/03/03/dear-rain-please-stop-8
Becoming an ethical doctor is always a work in progress. Dear rain, please stop…. It has been raining here. A LOT. To make matter worse, the rain has caused my internet to go tut tut… It takes me 30 minutes to check my email in the morning. I was able to get to the Riverina Rush website yesterday to register for the 2k open water swim, but the net kept going out. I tried registering today, but I think the rego is closed already. I am cranky and tired and I want this rain to stop. Enter your comment here.

Intern year in progress | medically ethically
https://medicallyethically.wordpress.com/2013/02/20/intern-year-in-progress
Becoming an ethical doctor is always a work in progress. Intern year in progress. Well, I graduated. To summarise my experiences so far, here are the highlights and the lowlights. My reg telling me that I’m more than a competent intern. The medical admin manager asking me if she can use my ‘exemplary’ discharge summary for one of the education sessions she is planning. Planning to see The Tallest Man on Earth at the Sydney Opera House in a couple of weeks. Meeting the other interns. 24/02/2013 at 8:40 PM.

The Methuselah Group | Our Vision
The Internet has completely disrupted the traditional recruitment process for the better. No longer do job seekers hunt through a limited number of job vacancy classified advertisements in newspapers or are limited to what consultants offer them, but now job seekers and employers connect online, revealing an extensive job market that was previously fenced-off. The vast online job market brings with it its own challenges. Where to look? How to stand out positively?

Monday, April 18, 2011. Here is Thomas mostly correctly identifying the letters of his name plus the letter i. That is as far as we've gotten in the letter department, but kid's just 20 months old. We think he's doing pretty good! Tuesday, March 29, 2011. I was trying to get Thomas to tell me why he was so uninterested in eating pizza for dinner, so he told me:. That's pretty clear, don't you think? Monday, March 7, 2011. Friday, February 25, 2011. I am so proud of him, and so wowed and humbled by how fa...
