A Note From Brad. Random thoughts from a fellow faith traveller. Tuesday, January 24, 2012. Going and coming.Home. It is interesting how they say that you can never go back again. I remember traveling back to my boyhood home where so many of my childhood memories still run rampant through the neighborhood. The memories were all there; but the place looked different somehow. the tree we planted when I was only six or seven years old (that I had to carefully mow around without mowing over! What do you thin...

A Note From Brad. Random thoughts from a fellow faith traveller. Tuesday, December 27, 2011. It’s December 27. At the time of this writing). And for many folks, the Christmas season is wrapping up (no pun intended! Gifts have been given, presents have been opened, and the exchanges of “thanks” have been shared all around. The colorful papers once beautifully adorned the carefully selected gifts placed beneath the tree has now been gathered together and dispatched to the garbage can. Paul, arguably the gr...

A Note From Brad: July 2013

A Note From Brad. Random thoughts from a fellow faith traveller. Tuesday, July 30, 2013. Recently, our daughter shared with us an issue she had with an assignment from college. In a book review, she shared that the author had misused the word "literally," choosing it over the word "figuratively" in the context of the novel. She shared that one of her greatest pet-peeves is when a word gets used incorrectly, citing her high school English teachers for that newfound frustration. The grace of God is not by ...

A Note From Brad. Random thoughts from a fellow faith traveller. Thursday, January 24, 2013. Daily To Do Lists. Retired United Methodist Bishop Robert Spain once led a workshop I attended regarding time management. One of the greatest tools he gave us was to make a to-do list each day. He said that the creating of the list was essential. To the success of our accomplishments. The more organized we are, the more effective we can be with our time, and therefore the more effective we can be in our ministry.

A Note From Brad: October 2012

A Note From Brad. Random thoughts from a fellow faith traveller. Wednesday, October 31, 2012. It is hard to believe, but as I write this, November is standing at the threshold waiting to come in. Where did the time go? Just a few moments ago, or so it seemed, we were watching the ball drop in Times Square; now we’re getting ready for the upcoming holiday marathon. It is difficult to slow down when we get to this time of year. Our hearts beat just a little faster, especially when we look at our to-do lists.

A Note From Brad: March 2012
http://anotefrombrad.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
A Note From Brad. Random thoughts from a fellow faith traveller. Monday, March 19, 2012. Having just come back from the Holy Lands a few weeks ago, I was once again reminded of the beautiful, yet contrasting terrain of this special place. The harsh mountains stand in stark distinction from the lush green valleys below. The Jordan River valley, on the other hand, boasts of rich soil and a plethora of bumper crops, abounding in grasses, trees, and life all around. We want to stay. I am reminded of how many...

A Note From Brad: September 2013
http://anotefrombrad.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
A Note From Brad. Random thoughts from a fellow faith traveller. Monday, September 9, 2013. I was in eighth grade when my father's parents came to live with us. Grandma had the beginnings of what we now know to be Alzheimer's and Granddad couldn't take care of the farm and her by himself any longer. So, after they sold everything in an estate sale, we rented a motorhome, and drove from Brownsville, Texas to Ringgold, Maryland and brought them home to live with us. Well, Grandma didn't make it to the wedd...

A Note From Brad. Random thoughts from a fellow faith traveller. Thursday, July 26, 2012. It can be bruised easily, and the healing is painfully slow. A thoughtless word, a quick criticism, or just “blowing past” someone can leave a bruise on the soul that takes a long time to recover. Damage can be done in a blink of an eye. The soul is the one thing that God created within each one of us that God felt was worthy of redemption. It is that which glimmers in the eyes of God. And each of us has it within us.

A Note From Brad. Random thoughts from a fellow faith traveller. Tuesday, February 21, 2012. One of my favorite quotes comes from J. R. R. Tolkien, “Not all who wander are lost.”. It means that from time to time, wandering is a means by which one may actually find oneself. In our culture of modern technology, we find ourselves with electronic means by which we can get from point A to point B with ease. Recently, a few of us traveled through the Holy Lands of Israel and Jordan. Their wanderings were a par...
