Heroku, EC2 and The Cloud. Thursday, 21 April 2011. Today Amazon’s US East Coast EC2 servers went down hard, taking with them many popular websites. Our internal application is hosted on Heroku. Who provide a layer on top of EC2. For hosting Ruby rack applications, was one of the many effected. Heroku along with countless other hosting providers bill themselves as cloud hosts but that term is very lose and open to interpretation. Turns out the current offerings are not even close. To plain segments error. I recently tried to start using metric-fu. For code statistics. This makes use of the rcov gem, as well as a few other gems. It generates the statistics with the rake task. Rake metrics:all with migrate. Somehow, this caused a slew of errors in the functional tests, all looking like this:. NoMethodError: undefined method `to plain segments for # ActionController: Routing: RouteSet:0x2aaaacad5648. But its not rspecs fault. Its rcov. That fixes it, and tests run fine now.
