MetroBoutique: January 2011
http://metroboutique.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 30, 2011. Dress and Pinafore made from Butterick B4054. Dress is view A; Pinafore is view H but without the ruffles (I didn't have enough matching fabric for the ruffles). Both are size 1 (12 months) and loosely fit my 13-month old daughter. Sunday, January 23, 2011. First, the zipper was a nightmare. I think my biggest trouble came because it was plastic so when the instructions explained how to shorten the zipper, it didn't work on the plastic teeth. I ended up just hiding it in...Secon...

MetroBoutique: June 2011

Monday, June 13, 2011. Baby Pants and Shoes. My friend just had a baby so I made her some newborn pants and shoes. The brown pants are made of a soft, very pliable corduroy that someone gave me a while back. The others are flannel. For both pants I used Made by Rae. S Newborn Baby Pants Pattern. For the shoes, I used a modified version of the Stardust baby shoes. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I am a horticulturalist who decided to stay home full-time. I have two boys (ages 9 and 5) and two little girls...

MetroBoutique: February 2010
http://metroboutique.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, February 11, 2010. The pictures are not the greatest but along with the instructions, it is the best I could find. Quite helpful. To quilt it together I stitched in the ditch so the pattern on the top wouldn't get too busy. I used a thread that went well with the flannel on back because that is where you would see it most. Food - Plain and Simple: Ham and Bean Soup
http://foodplainandsimple.blogspot.com/2010/11/ham-and-bean-soup.html
Friday, November 19, 2010. Ham and Bean Soup. We had this last night and it was delicious. For the beans I used about 3/4 cup large lima beans, 1 cup white beans, 1 cup black beans, and 1 cup pinto beans. My husband said the limas were what made the soup stand out. Ham and Bean Soup. 1-2 pounds (3-4 cups) dry beans. 4 cups water (plus more for soaking beans). 1-2 tsp dried parsley. 4 cups cooked ham, chopped. 1 Soak beans (using either quick soak or overnight soak). Food - Plain and Simple: June 2014
http://foodplainandsimple.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Wednesday, June 4, 2014. Ricotta Gnocchi with Mushrooms, Lemon Broccoli, Focaccia. Sorry, no pictures but it is delicious. I would have liked to toss all of the mushrooms and gnocchi together in a single dish but not all of my children like mushrooms so I tried to mix them together on individual plates as best as possible. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese. Fun fact - the resulting juice from this dish is pink.*. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

Food - Plain and Simple: Choir Snacks
http://foodplainandsimple.blogspot.com/2011/01/choir-snacks.html
Monday, January 31, 2011. We are in the choir in our church. To make it more fun and enticing to be in choir (especially after already being at church for 3 hours) we can volunteer to bring choir snacks. This past Sunday was our week and it was all such a big hit, especially the spinach-artichoke dip. Here is what we had (it was all homemade):. Thin slices of French bread. Meringues (my husband's specialty). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

Food - Plain and Simple: Daniel's Blueberry Cupcakes with Blueberry Frosting
http://foodplainandsimple.blogspot.com/2013/05/daniels-blueberry-cupcakes-with.html
Saturday, May 4, 2013. Daniel's Blueberry Cupcakes with Blueberry Frosting. Our friend's son, Daniel, just turned 8. For his birthday party he wanted blueberry cupcakes with blueberry frosting. I welcome a challenge but, I have to admit, I was not quite sure how this endeavor would turn out. After a brief Google search I found this. Recipe, which seemed like a good start. The cupcakes turned out light and fluffy (I used all-purpose flour as opposed to my default whole wheat). View my complete profile.

Food - Plain and Simple: September 2009
http://foodplainandsimple.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, September 20, 2009. It is hard for some to believe but I hadn't ever canned until this week. I love it! Just leave the darn things alone.) So, after I added the lemon juice I added boiling water until I had 1/2 inch head space, put on a clean lid, and screwed on the ring. I ran them in hot tap water to avoid bursting then processed them. We got 16 pints of tomatoes (3 were just yellow pear tomatoes, which I did whole because they are so small). Food - Plain and Simple: March 2010
http://foodplainandsimple.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 28, 2010. Husbands Can Cook Too. This past week my husband made an ice cream pie with a graham cracker crust (the graham crackers were made from this. Saturday morning he made me the absolute best breakfast known to man. Northwest Eggs Benedict (i.e. eggs benedict with crab cakes in the place of ham). My mouth is watering just thinking about them. We were able to make it with fresh eggs. So good. He makes the English muffins from his sourdough starter using this. Saturday, March 27, 2010.
