Walk the Huon - Environment

http://mhanna.customer.netspace.net.au/environment.htm

At present there is only a small amount of information in the site about the environment. However there are a wide range of environmental issues under discussion in the Huon Valley, many of which are very relevant to Bushwalkers. However, bushwalkers also need to be mindful of the impact which they have on the environment, and should practice Minimum Impact Bushwalking. At all times. Walking track management. The forests of the Huon Valley and surrounding areas have been harvested for a very long time&#4...

Walk the Huon - Info

http://mhanna.customer.netspace.net.au/info.htm

Bushwalking is potentially hazardous, particularly in some of the areas described in this website. It is not possible to remove all risk from outdoor activities, and if you go bushwalking you need to take responsibility for yourself. Illness, injury or death can result from outdoor activities even when all possible precautions are taken. You should ensure that you read our Safety. Apart from all that you can rely on us implicitly! Page last updated 02/04/08.

Walk the Huon - Home

http://mhanna.customer.netspace.net.au/about.htm

I made this website for fun really. So I'm not too fussed what you think! It's good to be able to publish stuff without asking anyone. Also, I was keen to promote bushwalking in the Huon, because it's often underrated, and perhaps overshadowed by some of the more famous places in Tasmania. The Huon is sometimes seen as the end of the South Coast walk, or somewhere you have to drive through to get to the start of the quick route to Federation Peak. It's much more than that! Walks in the Huon Valley. Hotlink Map of the Huon Valley. Note that all walks in National Parks require the purchase of a National Parks Pass. Hartz Peak and Lake. A relatively easy walk, which allows magnificent views of much of the south-west, from Adamsons Peak to Mt Anne and beyond. On a clear day you can see Frenchmans. Probably has the highest view/effort ratio of any walk in Southern Tasmania. Mt Snowy and Arthur and Emily Tarns. Lake Esperance and Ladies Tarn (Hartz Plateau). Great walk over rela...

Walk the Huon - Links

http://mhanna.customer.netspace.net.au/links.htm

My Blog, the TasBushBlog. Confederation of Bushwalking Clubs NSW. Plenty of general bushwalking information here - The infamous Bushwalking FAQ. Is kept here. Lots of good stuff in it, but slanted the way the writer(s) think, and not all of it is instantly useable in Tasmanian conditions. John's site has quite a lot of good information about Tasmanian walking venues, including stuff linked from his Tasmanian page. Have a lot of links at their site. Have a lot of info on their site.

Mark's Tasmanian Bush Blog. My ramblings and photos from the most beautiful place in the world. Wednesday, 12 June 2013. Changes proposed for management of the Walls of Jerusalem. St Davids Peak from Solomons Throne at sunrise. There are some interesting suggestions. You can download with all the details. Perhaps most notably, they propose a circuit walk in through Herods Gate, over to Dixons Kingdom, then down to Lake Ball and then Lake Adelaide and return from there. This may be true, but I have encoun...

Today you get our special two for one offer. That's right! Two walks on one post! The best laid plans of mice and walkers etc. All dressed up and no way to go. Unofficial posts of U3A Kingborough Bushwalkers by Jack Pindell. How to use this blog. Who's Looking at us? Thursday, 6 August 2015. 7 Mile Beach to Lauderdale Circuit 2015. Today we're walking from Seven Mile Beach and around and about Lauderdale. I'm sorry the rest of the group had to stand in the wind and cold waiting for us. The up side is that the four of us in the car were quite warm and comfortable! After all that, we set off led by Tas. Most of the track is in the open with some grown up parts.

Mark's Tasmanian Bush Blog. My ramblings and photos from the most beautiful place in the world. Friday, 25 January 2013. Lost World Circuit - 8th January 2013. With bushfires still burning on the Tasman Peninsula and elsewhere, something of a weather change was on the way. While overall it wasn't much, and didn't douse the fires, I think it was very welcome in minimising their further spread. Lost World is worth a bit of exploring, and I previously provided some information here. Links to this post.

Mark's Tasmanian Bush Blog. My ramblings and photos from the most beautiful place in the world. Sunday, 16 November 2014. Freycinet Circuit - 11th to 13th November 2014. I had a very enjoyable late-spring visit to Freycinet Peninsula including climbing Mt Freycinet and returning over Mount Graham. This walk isn't too hard, but has a good (579m) hill to carry an overnight pack over which is good training for other upcoming walks. The Hazards and Wineglass Bay from Mount Freycinet.
