Mia was born in Nairobi, Kenya in 1980 and has lived in Africa for most of her life. Mia’s grandfather was a photographer and when he died he left her with his lenses and cameras. She became passionate about photography- having her first exhibition at 18, documenting her life living in a small village in the mountains of Nepal. In 2012 Ol ari Nyiro Ranch in Laikipia, Kenya hosted a Fire and Water ceremony conducted by Japanese Shinnyo-en priests and their holy leader Shinso Ito. Shinnyo-en priests conduct the fire ceremony.
