July 20, 2015. I know I’ve been quiet lately. I’ve been dealing with things. At the end of May my insurance denied continued no-fault benefits from being rear ended back in March. New Year, New Fruit! It's been awhile, I know. Because even though it's almost Valentine's Day, the Lunar Near Year was only 3 days ago! So in addition to navel oranges and grapefruits we bought a pomelo. What is a pomelo, you ask? There was a lot of waste. And then there was beautiful salmon-pink fruit, a bit dry (hence being oddly light-weight), but I personally enjoyed that it didn't run down my chin with juiciness and it was more bitter than sour. The larger than grapefruit "juice pockets" remind...

Pork Tenderloin with Shallots and Pears. Was surprisingly quick to put together and almost felt fancy. But perhaps that's because I never make pork tenderloin and "shallot" is the classiest name for a vegetable that I've. Ever heard. Speaking of classy foods. The recipe calls for pear nectar. Really? Not hunting all over for that! After making a roux. Here's my roux.sorta looks like pancake batter. Wednesday, February 24, 2010. Down with the electric range! Today He has a rep for being a bit harsh at tim...

Pies in the Sky (a Pizza Blog). You better cut the pizza in four pieces because I'm not hungry enough to eat six. — Yogi Berra. Here’s a list of some decent pizzerias within driving distance (which is relative based on your level of pizza fanaticism) of Baltimore as well as some that are on my “to eat at” list. Bethesda) – a favorite because I’ve been going there since I was in diapers; the pizza’s just ok, but the place oozes nostalgia. Baltimore) – one of the best in Baltimore. Baltimore) – decen...

There were no culinary masterpieces.at least not made by me. The baked brie was made by a dear friend upon my special request, and it was greatly admired and appreciated! cauliflower socks: Just can't get enough!
http://cauliflowersocks.blogspot.com/2010/06/i-just-cant-get-enough.html
Just can't get enough! It was a balls-y move, getting up at 6:15 to cook. Something, especially after the last time I tried to prepare food before 7:30 am I sheared off the bottom of a bottle of olive oil, resulting in a giant slick to clean up. Wasn't expecting to be sopping up olive oil for 20 minutes before going to work when the alarm went off that. Morning. So I guess you could say that yesterday's Rhubarb-Strawberry Pudding Cake. Ie Breakfast Cake, got me back on the morning-kitchen horse. That loo...

I was sure I wanted to make a pie to bring to our 2nd annual Thanksgiving with friends. And when the bf said he had a certain fondness for pecan pie, the hunt was on for the best recipe. My culinary practice is hampered- not at all enhanced! I rest my case. America's Test Kitchen/Cooks Illustrated/Cook's Country. Sure, some recipes are waaaaay too complicated, but it sure is fun watching them do the work in their imaginary world of television, where 15 minutes of constant stirring over low heat is conden...
