The Big Personality of a Little Vegan. Until he extends the circle of his compassion to all living things, man will not himself find peace" - Albert Schweitzer. Saturday, July 9, 2011. We ran to the store to pick up hoison sauce, spring roll wraps, and soba noodles. You can use any kind of noodles, these were on sale so I bought them. Place the noodles and veggies on the wrap near the bottom of the wrap. At this time, the wrap will be soft and pliable, like magic! Dont forget the dipping sauce! Is that s...

Just another WordPress.com site. Archive for March, 2011. 8220;Humane meat is an oxymoron” – a look at the conscientious food movement, from a disabled vegan. Sanaura Taylor, a self-proclaimed “disabled artist, writer and vegan” presents an enlightening and thought-provoking response to the conscientious food and “humane meat” movement with her article in Yes! Magazine, “ Humane Meat? Indeed, one of the first comments I received from a close friend when I told him I was going vegan was that “ItR...

Just another WordPress.com site. On “The Bond,” Wayne Pacelle, and HSUS. June 14, 2011. Last week I started reading “ The Bond. Our Kinship with Animals, Our Call to Defend Them.” The book is written by Wayne Pacelle, president and CEO of the Humane Society of the United States. I haven’t finished it yet, but it’s really gotten me thinking about what I perceive to be one of the more controversial issues among vegans: the fight for more “humane” slaughtering methods. This encourages me to keep going when ...
Summer adventures | veggie4me
https://veggie4me.wordpress.com/2011/06/21/summer-adventures
Just another WordPress.com site. June 21, 2011. It’s summer time! That means lots of fruit – my favorite is a nice, juicy peach – long walks, and car rides with these two:. Yesterday was my day off (I work Tuesday through Saturday this week), and I got so much done! I cleaned my apartment from top to bottom. It’s sparkling. I even reorganized the drawer below my sink- the one that I usually open just a crack, throw something inside and then slam shut before tons of stuff falls out! I finished reading ...
GOOD goes veg, for a month anyway | veggie4me
https://veggie4me.wordpress.com/2011/06/27/good-goes-veg-for-a-month-anyway
Just another WordPress.com site. GOOD goes veg, for a month anyway. June 27, 2011. I’ve been following GOOD Magazine online ever since Ann Friedman left beloved feminist blog Feministing. So far the 30-Day Challenge. To “falling off the wagon” once or twice, but they kept moving – and several others said it was easier than expected. Even better, two of the GOOD editors who already are vegetarian decided to take the next step and go vegan. Yay! Every little bit helps! Leave a Reply Cancel reply. You are c...

https://veggie4me.wordpress.com/2011/05
Just another WordPress.com site. Archive for May, 2011. I started the week off feeling rather ambitious. Yesterday I got up early and went through a fairly demanding workout- I need to build strength and endurance before I can try out for roller derby! Then I tried my hand at two recipes, and they were both edible! It’s a little vegan miracle. The first thing I made was this Eggless Egg Salad. This is such an easy recipe- no cooking required! Don’t they just look heavenly? That’s what I’m alw...I recentl...

Just another WordPress.com site. Archive for February, 2011. Actually, for me it’s more like Stressful Monday. So here’s a picture that cheered me up, via Cat vs. Human. It’s me and Nick in 10 years. I ate my last Subway sub today (I just don’t think they’ll be good without mayo and cheese) and I’m probably going to have pizza for dinner. Then tomorrow I’ll wake up and begin my adventure! Until then, I may be existing solely on vegetable soup and pretzels. 🙂. 2 I’m going to try something new at le...
Summertime! Vegan road trips! | veggie4me
https://veggie4me.wordpress.com/2011/06/13/summertime-vegan-road-trips
Just another WordPress.com site. June 13, 2011. So my summer has gotten off to a pretty good start. Lexy and I have been taking lots of long walks, and a couple weeks ago I took her swimming! My friend Erin brought her dog, Maizy, and we went to a creek and let them play in the water. Lexy mostly wanted to chase butterflies, and Maizy wanted to run around in the mud. Afterward, we went back to Erin’s house and hosed them off in the yard. And it was sooo good. I had the chickpea salad hoagie:. Eating ther...

Just another WordPress.com site. Coffee: Weighing the pros (my happiness) and cons (my health). July 6, 2011. I’ve begun reading Kris Carr’s Crazy Sexy Diet. In attempt to incoporate more raw foods into my diet and to start being more conscious of what I’m putting in my body. I’ve definitely been eating healthier foods since I went vegan – as a vegetarian my diet mostly consisted of cheese sandwiches and cheese pizza! Sitting on the couch with a cup of coffee and a good book in the morning has come to be...

Just another WordPress.com site. July 7, 2011. Nick and I watched Earthlings. 8221; and “We never did that on my uncle’s farm! Anyway, right before we went to bed we were still talking about the film and he said “That has me seriously thinking about becoming a vegetarian.” That made me SO happy! I’m not going to keep bringing it up, but I’ll continue to order animal documentaries on Netflix and cook delicious vegan meals. You know what they say- kill ’em with kindness! Making the connection" (5). I defin...

The Lisu Book Project. About the Lisu people. Flashback to Yunnan, 1997. Kitchen Klatch, Kachin Style (part 2). Rainy day in Kachin State, just outside the Culture Committee Chairman’s house. Where did the tradition of the father of the bride paying for the wedding come from? And how does such “dowery-mindset” behavior (along with hope chests, bottom drawers, trousseaux, etc.) contrast with the rationale behind bride price? Is one more sexist? 8221; His reminder elicited merriment and relief on my part.

The Big Personality of a Little Vegan
The Big Personality of a Little Vegan. Until he extends the circle of his compassion to all living things, man will not himself find peace" - Albert Schweitzer. Sunday, August 28, 2011. In an attempt to recreate corn casserole, I came up with the following recipe. It wasn't as casserole-y because I didn't use Jiffy from a box (or an entire tub of sour cream) but I'd like to think my substitutions made this version of the recipe a hair healthier. 1 and 1/4 cup water. 1 egg substitute. We used ener-G.

Friday, August 23, 2013. Yesterday, as I was watching it rain…again…I was reminded of the time we went to the beach! It seems like it was FOREVER ago since it has rained nearly EVERY day since we returned! I remember complaining a few times at the beach because the kids were up at the crack of dawn, or they were fighting or crying, and now I realize how silly that was to complain at all! We were at the beach for Pete’s sake! Walker got to catch a King Mackerel which he still talks about almost every day!
