Monday, October 14, 2013. You know how when you're talking with somebody you give them little cues to let them know you're tracking with them? Like maybe you say "yeah" or "uh-huh" or even just nod your head at certain breaks in the conversation? The way Malians do this is by clicking their tongues, usually accompanied by one quick little nod down and last Thursday that click was the sweetest sound I've ever heard. Then it was time for lunch. It was the craziest thing! She was happy about the left hands.

michelle in mali: September 2011

http://michellesafricablog.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html

Saturday, September 3, 2011. Which I roughly translate as "Good walking! I mean, they're literally cheering you on as you do sport.what's not to love? Yesterday, as I was doing sport an old man started cheering for me and I couldn't think of how to say "thank you" in any other language but Sunny. So I said it and he repeated it and immediately launched into the whole string of Sunny greetings with me. He was both shocked and ecstatic that the white girl doing sport in a moo-moo spoke Sunny. I told him Us...

Tuesday, May 21, 2013. It turns out I never finished the rest of the story. :) Well, the rest of the story from our 2-year Journeyman term, anyway. Because we all know it's not really the end of the story. I'm going to need to consult with Abby and my prayer journal at the time to make sure I fill in all the details accurately, but it's coming! My last post is about Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's (2011! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Abby and Sarah: my teammates.

michelle in mali: A Highly-Anticipated Road Trip

http://michellesafricablog.blogspot.com/2013/10/a-highly-anticipated-road-trip.html

Monday, October 14, 2013. A Highly-Anticipated Road Trip. In my previous post I mentioned that we had bought H-Mama a phone to play the Stories on and that we would "get it to her one way or another." What I couldn't tell you yet was that we were GOING TO GO SEE HER! Nafi dropped us off on the side of the road so that we could hop out and run the errands while she got gas. Abby stopped off to get the egg sandwiches started (yum! We got in the truck, distributed the sandwiches and drinks and began the tri...

michelle in mali: June 2011

http://michellesafricablog.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html

Friday, June 3, 2011. Rain is one of the things I miss the most about America. And heat has been one of the hardest things to get used to in Mali. Which means that I pretty much adore rainy season out here. It's short and sweet.and still hot.and a lot more humid.but it RAINS.and for a few glorious hours afterwards it feels fantastic outside. Rainy days are ALWAYS good days.even if you do get the truck stuck in the mud :). Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Abby and Sarah: my teammates.

Kendall: March 2011

http://kendallnicole.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

Tuesday, March 29, 2011. There is not much that I love more than hearing Kendall tell me the Bible stories she is learning. I can't get over how precious it is. I love how she is listening to her teachers and then how she can remember the details and tell us the stories. Today in chapel at school she learned the story of Jesus feeding the 5,000. Listen to her tell it! Monday, March 28, 2011. We have been having a lot of fun playing outside lately! Hey Kendall, let me take a picture of you and Cooper!

Kendall: Fun with Family!

http://kendallnicole.blogspot.com/2012/02/fun-with-family.html

Monday, February 13, 2012. We were so blessed to have all our parents in town for Kendall's birthday last weekend, along with my Granny, Val, Gracie, and Evy! It was so fun to get to spend time with everyone. We had dinner together Friday night, Kendall's party Saturday morning, went to Chick fil A for lunch, and then cooked dinner again at home Saturday night. It was a wonderful weekend! The girls loved getting to eat on Kendall and Cooper's new princess table they got for Christmas.

Kendall: Big-girl Bike!

http://kendallnicole.blogspot.com/2012/02/big-girl-bike.html

Monday, February 6, 2012. For her birthday, Randy and I got Kendall her very first big-girl bicycle! We decided that with all the excitement of all her grandparents coming in town and her birthday party the next day that we would go ahead and give it to her on Friday morning. After she woke up, we had her sit in her room and we brought it in to her! It's a princess bike with streamers and a carriage on the top that holds her baby and some other things. She loves it! Such a fun present!

http://kendallnicole.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html

Tuesday, October 25, 2011. Kendall and Cooper got to come to the Aggie tailgate with us last weekend! While Randy and I watched A&M btho Baylor, the girls had a fun day with Granny and Papas. We were so thankful they drove down to College Station to help us with the girls! He is so precious and both of the girls were in love with him. He also has a full head of red hair, so he just fits right in with our girls! Cooper was having a lot of fun with Papas! And she was having a lot of fun eating and drinking.

Wednesday, May 25, 2011. Visiting Kiki and Pops! I blogged already over on Cooper's blog about our visit with Kiki and Pops, but Kendall got to do a few extra fun things that Coop didn't get to do! One of those things was going to the "princess" store with Kiki on Monday. Kendall was super excited about this, and I was excited to get to tag along with them! The name of the store was "GirlyGirl," which describes Kendall perfectly! She loved sitting in the little princess chair they had sitting out front.

Kendall: July 2011

http://kendallnicole.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html

Sunday, July 31, 2011. When we were in Ft. Worth last week we got to see the newest Lester! Hudson was born on Saturday morning, July 16th. He is so precious! When I was driving up Friday, I knew Joy was close to being ready to have him. I almost texted her and said, "Ok! I'm in Ft. Worth! He can come this week! He ended up coming that night and we went to the hospital Sunday morning to see him. Kendall was SO interested in him. She just kept wanting to rub his hair. Sweet girl. Monday, July 25, 2011.

Sunday, February 8, 2015. Happy One Month, Vivian! Man I'm already late posting her one month post. This is not a good sign. But I will persevere! Baby #4 WILL have monthly posts! I have so enjoyed reading the other girls so I want to be sure to have them. We have had to work hard for it, but this girl started smiling right before turning one month old! Not a lot of cooing, but we can tell we are right on the cusp and it is coming! Maybe aren't that far from sleeping all the way till 7? She takes a paci ...

http://tiakasey.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html

Monday, June 28, 2010. A Week in Pictures. The Friday before last we went to the airport late at night to pick up Grammy and Papaw! This was very exciting for a number of reasons. One being that Mom and Wayne were going to be staying here for an entire week, two we were going to do a bit of traveling to show them the sights, and three this:. One good thing about Henry is that it's like he hasn't missed a beat when he gets back around our family. It's like he sees them everyday! On Friday we paid a visit ...
